Julie Chen Proved She’s Sticking By Her Husband

After the news broke that Les Moonves is stepping down as CEO of CBS after 12 women accused him of workplace sexual harassment and assault, his wife Julie Chen announced she’s taking some time away from The Talk to be with her family. When the first round of allegations against Les came out, Julie was quick to defend Les and “fully support him.” As promised, Julie returned to TV during last night’s episode of Big Brother and made it clear she’s working from The Tammy Wynette Guide to Standing by Your Man.

Usually at the end of each Big Brother episode, Julie will say the words: “From outside the Big Brother house, I’m Julie Chen. Good night.” Well, Julie closed the show last night by saying:

“I’m Julie Chen Moonves, good night.”

Ah, it just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it. Nothing awkward, forced or cooked up in a publicist’s office about it at all.

Julie has been married to Les since 2004, and has always gone by Julie Chen.

Julie’s new last name drop was technically the only thing that could classify as a comment on the Les situation. She didn’t talk about the additional allegations published Ronan Farrow and The New Yorker. CBS is still in the middle of an investigation into the allegations, and it’s been said that the results of that investigation probably won’t be made public.

Variety points out that the confidentiality of the investigation might not have had anything to do with Julie’s lack of comment last night. Contestants in the Big Brother house are cut-off from the world and have no knowledge of what’s happening on the outside. It probably would have been super confusing for Julie to kick off this week’s Head of Household competition by asking everyone to play a game called “So, do you think Les Moonves is guilty or no?
