Will Smith Doesn’t Call Jada Pinkett Smith His Wife

No doubt that many eyes shot a side-eye after reading that headline, especially considering Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have practically made second careers out of denying the divorce rumors. But it’s not like that at all. It’s Will and Jada, which means it’s bound to be two parts overcompensating with a dash of insufferable.

Will was on Tidal’s Rap Radar podcast (via UsWeekly), and he talked about his marriage. Will might have called Jada his “wife” back in 1997 when they got married, but not anymore. According to Will, Jada is his “life partner.

“We don’t even say we’re married anymore. We refer to ourselves as life partners, where you get into that space where you realize you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life.”

And when Will says life, he means it. There’s nothing Jada can do that will make Will march down to a divorce lawyer’s office and say, “I want a new life partner.

“There’s no deal breakers. There’s nothing she could do – ever. Nothing that would break our relationship. She has my support till death and it feels so good to get to that space.”

Nothing? Not one thing? What if she slipped a grapefruit on someone else’s citrus juicer? What if she said that DJ Jazzy Jeff was far fresher? What if he overheard Jada joking with her friends that her favorite movie of the Willennium was Wild Wild West? There’s got to be something. Actually, I think I know. It’s definitely over the second she utters the words: “You know, I don’t want to brag about our marriage anymore.
