Halsey And G-Eazy Are Over After Less Than A Year

It looks like Halsey has another dramatic scene to add to the movie she’s making about her life. I can see it now: the door slowly closes, Halsey wipes away a single tear as she turns to leave. Her inner monologue muses, “And just like that, I was no longer dating a guy whose name sounded like an attempt to market pre-peeled garlic to millennials.

23-year-old Halsey announced a few days ago that she and 29-year-old rapper G-Eazy are taking a break after about 10 months together. According to sources that spoke to TMZ, no one should really be surprised that they broke up. Both Halsey and G-Eazy attended a Post Malone show at the Hollywood Bowl last week (G-Eazy performed a song with Post). Sources say that Halsey and G-Eazy were seen backstage, but they barely spoke to each other and were acting very stand-offish. After the show, Halsey was seen at a club with Machine Gun Kelly. Halsey was reportedly with Machine Gun Kelly last year right before she got with G-Eazy. And then there’s also G-Eazy getting arrested for assault and coke possession in Sweden just two months ago.

Halsey confirmed the split with the following statement that sort of reads like a some self-care advice she copied down during a rerun of Iyanla: Fix My Life.

“I feel the need to inform my fans. G-Eazy and I are taking some time apart. I’m eager to continue the upcoming passage of time dedicating myself to my art and my career and the duration of my tour. I wish him the best.”

Please note the absence of the standard celebrity break-up assurance that they’re still “the best of friends.” TMZ also points out that Halsey has been busy deleting any and all pictures of G-Eazy from her Instagram account. It’s not known what drove Halsey and G-Eazy apart. But based on that statement and her Instagram power-washing, I’m inclined to believe it definitely ended with Halsey unceremonious dumping a box of clothes and shoes in G-Eazy’s driveway and peeling out while flipping him off.
