Reps for Glenne Headly confirmed in a statement today that she has died at the age of 63. Sources tell TMZ she checked into a hospital last week to deal with blood clots and she seemed to be getting better, but passed suddenly last night.

Glenne started out her career in the NYC theater world, and quickly made it to movies and television. Her work on TV landed her two Primetime Emmy nominations, one for Lonesome Dove and the other for Bastard Out of Carolina. ER fans will know her as Noah Wyle’s secret doctor girlfriend from Season 3. She also played lots of moms, like the mom from Mr. Holland’s Opus or Lindsay Lohan’s mom from Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen or Ben Wyatt’s mom on Parks and Recreation. At the time of her death, she had been cast as the mom in Seth Rogen’s upcoming Hulu comedy series Future Man.

Glenne is survived by her husband and son.

She was known for a lot of things, but she’ll always be Tess Trueheart from Dick Tracy to a lot of us. I loved Breathless Mahoney’s man-stealing antics, but I always liked Tess more for her ride-or-die loyalty and her ability to wear a gorgeous hat. Glenne also stole the show in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels as expert scam artist Janet Colgate. On that note, let’s leave with this clip of Glenne as Janet Colgate, for two reasons. One, because Janet Colgate is a get-money icon. Two, because but no one will work a mustard-colored double peplum satin suit better.

Rest in peace, Glenne.
