Maxwell House’s Cappio!

Maxwell House’s Cappio was ahead of its time and was a true “iced cappuccino in a bottle” vanguard in the U.S.! Today, the refrigerator section is filled with coffee everything like iced coffee, iced cappuccino, iced mocha, cold brew, iced cow jizz with a splash of espresso, etc… etc… But all the way back in the ancient times of the early 90s, the iced coffee game wasn’t as crowded. In 1992, Maxwell House started selling Cappio, which as you can tell by the giant words in the picture above, was iced cappuccino in a bottle and it came in three flavors: regular, mocha and cinnamon.

When I was a teenager and wanted iced coffee, I had to settle for Sanka on ice, so I don’t ever remember drinking Cappio. But I remember the commercials, which made it seem like if you drank Cappio, you’d suddenly find yourself doing a bath salts ballet in a beatnik club like Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face:

Cappio never became a hit, because the people were just not ready for it at the time, so Maxwell House got rid of it around 1996. But it should really make a comeback and slap down all those other iced capp drinks. I still wouldn’t buy it, though, because why do I need any of those bottled iced coffee drinks when I’ve got Sanka on ice?
