Farewell, Teddy Pendergrass
January 14, 2010 / Posted by: Michael K
Soul legend Teddy Pendergrass, who might be responsible for some of you being conceived, passed away yesterday at a hospital in Philadelphia. Teddy was 59.
Teddy’s son, Teddy Pendergrass II, said his father underwent colon cancer surgery eight months ago and his recovery was more than difficult. In 1982, Teddy was paralyzed form the waist down after a car accident in Philadelphia.
Teddy was the leader of Melvin & the Blue Notes, and he went on to wreck panties as a solo artist with hits like “Turn Off The Lights” and “Close the Door.”
Teddy’s son had this message for his father’s fans, “To all his fans who loved his music, thank you. He will live on through his music.”
Rest in Peace, Teddy.
