Russell Crowe Won’t Be Charged For His Messy Hotel Suite Fight With Azealia Banks

Here’s some good news that no doubt had Russell Crowe whipping a phone into the air while shouting “Hooray for me!” (I’m pretty sure he can’t not celebrate without throwing something).

Back in October, an alleged violent/racist fight between Russell Crowe and Azealia Banks happened in his suite at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Azealia accused a drunk Russell of calling her the n-word, spitting in her face, and choking her before throwing her out of his hotel suite. Russell’s side of the story (one that was corroborated by the person responsible for Azealia Banks being there in the first place, RZA) was that Azealia was really drunk and was only removed by Russell because she was threatening to cut a fellow guest with a broken wine glass. It was all very he said/she said with the common “said” being that one of them was a violent drunk asshole machine that night.

Well, we’re never going to get a dramatic court trial between these two, because TMZ says it’s all done, and Russell isn’t in trouble. Azealia must have lost those receipts she claimed she had. According to the L.A. County District Attorney’s office, they decided to clear Russell after several witnesses came forward and claimed it was Azealia who threw around the n-word and did the attacking. The witnesses also backed up Russell’s story about Azealia making violent threats. The witnesses admitted that Russell physically threw her out of his hotel suite, but the D.A. thinks that’s ok because he was doing what needed to be done to keep the rest of the guests safe from Azealia Cuttyhands.

As for the spitting thing, Russell may or may not have horked a hot one at Azealia. Azealia says it happened, a witness told the D.A. it didn’t. We don’t know for sure. But the D.A. is giving it a pass in the event he did do it. TMZ says the D. A. considered the spit “incidental to preventing more serious threatened violence.” I hope the D.A.’s permission to spit policy makes Azealia step back and think a little about her choices. When someone is telling you that a mid-fight loogie was a de-escalation move, that’s your cue to start bringing your general aura of life messiness down a notch.
