Steven Tyler’s Being Sued For Allegedly Sexually Assaulting A Minor In The 1970s And Coercing Her Into Having An Abortion

No, that isn’t your self-proclaimed “Cool Aunt Jacqui” cosplaying as a constipated Captain Jack Sparrow; it’s a smug Steven Tyler trying not to let on that he’s about to soil his drawers while pondering the possible consequences of his actions as a fully-grown man back in 1973. Julia Holcomb is suing Steven for sexual assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Steven “allegedly” (but he wrote about it in his memoir and included it in an Aerosmith book, too…) began a three-year sexual relationship with a then 16-year-old Julia. She also alleges that he coerced her into getting an abortion.

Although Steven isn’t listed by name in the lawsuit, everyone was able to put two and two together since he included details about the relationship in his 2011 book, and Julia’s now a devout Catholic/pro-life advocate and has spoken out about the relationship in her public speaking engagements. Julia’s also suing several other defendants in the suit. via Deadline:

A woman who says she had a sexual relationship with Steven Tyler in 1973 when she was 16 has filed a lawsuit against the Aerosmith frontman, Rolling Stone reports. The suit, filed under the California Child Victims Act, accuses Tyler of sexual assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Under the act, the statute of limitations was temporarily lifted for survivors of childhood abuse.

Tyler is not named in the lawsuit, but plaintiff Julia Holcomb has spoken publicly about what she said were her experiences with Tyler, who was then about 25, which she says lasted for three years. Tyler, for his part, writes in his memoir that he “almost took a teen bride” whose parents “fell in love with me, signed a paper over for me to have custody, so I wouldn’t get arrested if I took her out of state. I took her on tour with me.”

…Holcomb’s lawsuit refers to John Does numbering 1 through 50, so there may be more shoes to drop if the lawsuit progresses.

Here’s Steven and Julia back in the day:

And TMZ gave more disturbing specifics about the relationship. The two met at an Aerosmith concert, and Steven allegedly provided Julia with alcohol and drugs along the way after asking Julia’s mother to turn over custody to him. Julia claims that things ended shortly after Steven threatened to stop financially supporting her unless she got an abortion.

According to the docs obtained by Rolling Stone, Holcomb first met Tyler just after her 16th birthday when Aerosmith played a 1973 concert in Portland, Oregon. Tyler, who was around 25 at the time, allegedly brought Holcomb back to his hotel room, where they chatted about her age and troubled home life.

Holcomb says Tyler then “performed various acts of criminal sexual conduct upon.” She claims he continued to have sex with her after illegally flying her as a minor across state lines to Seattle for Aerosmith’s next show.

The docs also state Tyler tried to coax Holcomb’s mom into turning over guardianship of her daughter to him so he could provide for her and travel with her without fear of criminal liability. But, Holcomb says, Tyler did not follow through with his plans “and instead continued to travel with, assault and provide alcohol and drugs” to her.

By 1975, Holcomb says she was 17 and pregnant with Tyler’s son … Tyler allegedly ordered her to get an abortion after an apartment fire, insisting the unborn baby was suffering from a lack of oxygen — an allegation dismissed by a medical professional.

Holcomb says she was torn about terminating the pregnancy … but ultimately went through with it after Tyler threatened to cut off financial support. After that, she says she left Tyler and went back home to Portland to pick up the pieces of her life.

Oops–that apartment fire was also included in an Aerosmith autobiography.

Interestingly, Aerosmith’s 1997 autobiography mentioned the apartment fire, abortion and underage relationship, but identified the girl as Diana, not Holcomb.

And here’s Julia talking about her time with Steven:

It’s probably beneficial to Julia’s case that Steven wasn’t able to keep his gargantuan, loose lip slugs shut about the details of their relationship. The last couple of times we heard about Steven, he was dating a much younger woman (le gasp) and canceling Aerosmith shows due to heading back to rehab and rumors of an undisclosed health issue, which I’m now going to assume was a severe case of guilty moob-itis.
