“Jeopardy!” Is Expected To Make An Announcement About Multiple Permanent Hosts Soon

Since Alex Trebek’s death in November 2020, Jeopardy! has experienced some high highs and low lows. Highs: champs like Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio, and Mattea Roach. Lows: the search for an official replacement host. Right now, Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik are sharing hosting duties, but, before that, there was the revolving door of celebrity guest hosts, all the Mike Richards drama, and cries of “Give it to LeVar Burton!” Now Jeopardy! producer Michael Davies has told Variety that the show will make an announcement about multiple hosts “very, very soon.” Oh no, is it six clones of Mike Richards?!

via Variety:

“The scandal was, as we call it at ‘Jeopardy!,’ ‘the awkward months,’” executive producer Michael Davies said backstage. “But it showed the power of our audience and how passionately our fans care about the program, which is just so important. What’s happened over the course of the season — Matt Amodio, and Amy Schneider and Mattea [Roach] and Ryan [Long] — really made us just remember how incredible the game is. The stars of our show and Mayim [Bialik] and Ken [Jennings] have done incredible job hosting.”

Davies added, ‘we hope to have a hosting announcement very, very soon. But with all of our plans for ‘Jeopardy!’ — which is more ‘Jeopardy!,’ not less, more versions —we’re going to need multiple hosts to represent the entire audience, to represent the entire country, in order to take this franchise forward.”

The “more versions” Michael is talking about are the upcoming primetime ABC events that Mayim is slated to host. But there also might be something else in the works, based on cryptic tweets from former Jeopardy! champion Buzzy Cohen (which is, coincidentally, the nickname I gave my vibrator).

But back to this “multiple hosts” thing. Michael is saying he wants Jeopardy! hosts that “to represent the entire audience.” That suggests diversity, which White Mayim and White Ken do not offer. So will one of them get cut? If so, might I suggest Mayim? Her voice is… the worst. I don’t even watch the weeks she hosts. And while Ken has also had his share of controversies, he’s not a bad host. You just have to train your brain to forget about his horrifying tweets. And the Bean Dad affiliation. Sigh. OK, just give it to LeVar Burton. I don’t even care if he doesn’t want the job, it’s what he’s getting.
