Open Post: Hosted By Velveeta’s Cheese-Scented Nail Polish

The beauty world has long neglected the needs of the small but wonderful world of cheese enthusiasts who also love looking pretty. It’s been seen as a Venn diagram with beauty on one side and cheese on the other; never the two shall meet. UNTIL NOW! Velveeta heard our cries begging to save us from a cheeseless beauty existence, looked down, and whispered, “Yes!” Velveeta has released a nail polish that looks and smells just like your favorite pasteurized prepared cheese product! Next time someone in the elevator disgustedly asks, “Eurgh, where’s that feet smell coming from?”, you can proudly point to your new manicure!

Velveeta is mostly known for being a cheese spread or nacho dip. And nail polish is mainly known for something you don’t eat unless you want a visit from poison control. But some clever ad exec thought that cheese + nails = $$$ and, unfortunately for us, they were right! The limited-edition nail polish sold out in a few hours after launch. via Yahoo! Life:

The makers of your favorite liquid gold recently partnered with UK brand Nails.INC to create a scented nail polish that smells just like your favorite cheesy goodness! It sold out just nine hours after launching — but it’s back in stock, while supplies last!

Available in “Finger Food” (a bright red) and “La Dolce Velveeta” (an aptly-named orange), the formula goes on creamy and smooth, and the two shades are made to be worn together. The cheese scent develops once the polish dries. Don’t worry: No actual cheese was used in the scent. In fact, the polish is 100% vegan. Makes a great gag gift for your favorite lactose-intolerant friend!

The polish is part of Velveeta’s “La Dolce Velveeta” campaign (respect for that pun) which is supposed to be all about “stepping out in a confident, unapologetic way to show the world that you’re living a life filled with outrageous pleasure.” If you need a cheese brand to help you be unapologetically you, I dunno what to tell you. But if you like bold colors on your fingers, then this might be a look worth trying. Personally, I think the red-on-yellow look is giving more “hot dog condiments” than imitation cheese, but what do I know about fashion? However, I DO know about smells and reeking of cheese might not be the best tactic for attracting people. If Nails.INC is looking for the next best thing to help people look and feel great, I suggest they partner with Mr. Sketch to make a nail polish of line of those markers that smelled like fruit. Now that would be the height of sophistication!
