Jana Kramer Says That A “One Tree Hill” Co-Star Made Life On Set A Living “Hell”

Jana Kramer is back to talk about some more drama but this time it has nothing to do with her cheater husband Mike Caussin. On a recent episode of Jana and Mike’s podcast Whine Down, they talked to her former One Tree Hill co-stars, James Lafferty and Stephen Colletti. And while talking about the show, Jana mentioned a nightmare of a cast member who turned One Tree Hill into One Tree HELL.
One Tree Hill aired from 2003 to 2012 and honestly, it should have stopped when they time-jumped. That shit was fine for like one season but it needed to be put to rest. Jana signed on for the last three seasons, which were hands-down the worst ones. This was around the time when Stephen Colletti, of MTV’s Laguna Beach, was also made a series regular. Stephen and Jana had a lot of scenes together and got along great. But apparently, there were some people she could just not speak to or there would be Hell to pay so she actually wasn’t close to James Lafferty during filming. Jana said, via People:
“When I was on the show … there was just some, not cattiness, but just, “You can’t talk to this person if you’re friends with this person.” So I wasn’t very close to James because of certain situations on the set at the time.”
“But now, I mean everyone is really close, and it’s kind of frustrating because I’m like, “Why couldn’t we have all be friends then?” “And you made the newbies’ life a little bit of Hell.” But it’s cool.”
But Jana went on to say that it’s annoying that they’re acting all nice now since back in the day, there was one person who was a demon:
“But now it’s like, annoying because they’re all like, “We’re all friends now,” and I’m just like, “You, one person, literally made it hell for us, because if we chose the wrong friend, we would be destroyed.””
Another OTH castmember, Bethany Joy Lenz, was on Jana’s podcast in 2019 and talked about the drama on set:
“It was hard for us, because I felt like when we came on the show, just being so honest, it was a very divided set. I feel like everyone already kinda had their places and it was either, are you going to be in the “A team” or the “B team?” It was just tricky.”
Jana also put blame on Mark Schwahn, the creator of the show. Mark has since been accused of sexual harassment by female co-workers. Sophia Bush specifically mentioned how Mark once groped her. The allegations got Mark fired from The Royals, a show he was show-running at the time the allegations came out. Jana said of him:
“I think our creator kinda created that environment, as well… I don’t know what he’s doing now. But that was probably the hardest part about [being on the show].”
As for who the nightmare on set was, some are guessing Sophia Bush. I don’t know, but I do know who the One Tree Hill cast should also be mad at. They should be mad at the stoner dog who ate a man’s heart (just call him Arfie Hammer) because that dog was easily the best part of that show.
