Open Post: Hosted By The Fyre-Festival-Style Meal Served At A Wedding

People are still pushing ahead with wedding plans, despite everything that is going on. And while some might consider a wedding to be the perfect excuse to leave the house, one couple has done everything in their power to keep people away, including serving a sad reception meal. And although Ja Rule would look at this photo and say, “I don’t see a problem‘” some of the wedding guests were not into it. Well, somebody let them know that IN THIS ECONOMY, you gotta serve what you gotta serve.

According to Metro UK, a certain couple (assumedly from the US, since they call chips ‘crisps’ in the UK), who were kept anonymous, decided that instead of telling their honored guests to stay at home and be safe (and put the gift in the mail), they were going to serve them a bag of Lays, half a croissant sandwich, a plastic cupful of sliced veggies and two piddly skewers of fruit at their big, special day. A bridesmaid (and ex-friend of the bride, I’m guessing) blasted the wedding food on Facebook:

People were so disappointed in fact, that even a bridesmaid from the wedding took to social media to express her feelings. ‘We get our “food”, which was half a croissant sandwich, fruit on a stick, veggies in a cup and a bag of chips,’ the bridesmaid wrote. ‘None of the chairs matched at the reception.. it’s just looked a mess.’

Um, has this bridesmaid never heard of country chic?! This is the potpourri of chairs that offended that bridesmaid:

And people on Facebook added their own opinions:

‘This is literally what I gave my toddler for lunch today minus the chips,’ commented one. ‘Chips! I don’t know whether to laugh or feel sad,’ added another. ‘They couldn’t even spring for a full sandwich? Just half each? Damn,’ said someone else who was less than impressed by the portion size.

While the point of any wedding is to witness and celebrate the union of two people who have chosen to make each other miserable for the rest of their days, some people are there for the food and booze––especially if they’ve brought along a $100+ gift. No word on what the gift-giving situation was at this particular wedding. But you know, for a wedding during the shit year that is 2020, that is the perfect meal. Their wedding theme was probably: 2020!
