G-Eazy Really Wants To Play Elvis In Baz Luhrman’s Biopic

Despite a lengthy list of actors rumored to be in the running, Baz Luhrman’s upcoming biopic about Elvis Presley is still without an Elvis, that we know of. But thankfully, Baz can call off the search, because the Elvis he’s been looking for is rapper G-Eazy. And G-Eazy’s been right in front of Baz’s eyes all this time. Technically he’s been in front of all our eyes. G-Eazy has been campaigning for the role on Instagram.
TMZ says that 30-year-old G-Eazy, whose real name Gerald Earl Gillum, isn’t on the list of actors reportedly up for the part. That list includes Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Harry Styles, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Austin Butler. But that doesn’t mean G-Eazy is a crazy long shot for the part of Elvis. Sources tell say that G-Eazy has been “in talks” with people at Warner Bros. Now that sounds like G-Eazy has received an invitation to come in for a screen test. It could also sound like he’s received a call from the front desk receptionist asking him to please stop leaving voicemail messages of him singing “Jailhouse Rock.” But according to sources, it’s the first one. G-Eazy has reportedly met several times with various people involved in the film, including Baz Luhrman.
The sources go on to say that G-Eazy hung out with Baz in New York City last month, and he pushed for a shot. He’s still pushing, like by dressing as G.Elviz for Instagram:

That’s it? A few seconds in some teddy boy jeans and black loafers?
G-Eazy as Elvis isn’t that crazy of a pitch. I’m sure G-Eazy can do a very convincing line reading of: “Hey man, those drugs aren’t mine!”
