Constance Wu woke up Saturday morning, noticed the internet calling her the most ungrateful diva TV actress since Katherine Heigl and sprang into action. Initially, she denied that her emotional breakdown on Friday on Twitter was over her show Fresh Off The Boat being renewed. Then she said she had a bad day. Now she’s admitting it was totally about the show getting renewed.
Please note that, in addition to tweeting her dismay (“Fucking hell.” and “So upset right now that I’m literally crying. Fuck.”) and replying to a fan telling her that the renewal was great news with a “no it’s not,” she also reportedly “posted “Dislike” on the show’s Instagram posting about the new order.” Which okay, but not everything needs to be tweeted. Constance’s Crazy Rich Asians co-star Gemma Chan also “liked” a tweet saying that Constance has a reputation in Hollywood as being difficult, but later said that was an accident. Uh huh.
Constance fessed up to everything in a llloonnnng tweet yesterday. She says that she had an emotional social media breakdown because there was another project that she was hoping to do and the renewal murdered that dream.

Judging by the revelation that Constance tends toward histrionics, “really hard and not easy or pleasant at all” probably means that she was going to have to shoot near the New Jersey Turnpike with a smaller trailer than she’s used to and maybe playing a cashier of some sort.
Bringing #MeToo into it… is just… a no and has nothing to do with this. It reminds me of the time I tried to defend an accusation of shoplifting with a return accusation of homophobia. “How dare you? I merely lost the receipt for this giant bag of Cadbury Mini-Eggs. IS THIS BECAUSE I’M GAY?!?!”
