The First Trailer For The “Tomb Raider” Reboot Is Here

Warner Bros. dropped the first official trailer for Tomb Raider, and we finally got to see Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in action. Yup, there she is, raidin’ tombs and poppin’ nerd boners. The legacy of Lara Croft lives on!
Actually, in action might be a little bit of an oversell; for the most part, Alicia has a look on her face that says she regrets not raiding the coffee station before filming. Here’s Lara telling her friend she’s going on an adventure:
We’ve learned in the past that Angelina Jolie really, really wanted the role of Lara Croft in 2001’s Lara Croft: Tom Raider. I don’t know if we can say the same about Alicia. I like to think Alicia’s Lara is a cousin of that Lara (also named Lara), but younger, less enthusiastic, and whose favorite hobbies include wooden puzzles and reading instructions. No, really – her thing appears to be puzzles.
“Fine, I’ll raid your stupid tomb, just let me finish this brain teaser box I picked up from Bed Bath & Beyond.”
Here’s the first of what will be a million more trailers since it doesn’t come out until March 2018.
At least we can all agree that the first trailer is much better than the broken-neck Photoshop job they did on the first poster. I just wish they had found a way to work in an appearance by Alicia’s possible fiancé Michael Fassbender. All those scenes in the jungle and not one cameo from Michael’s trouser python? Missed opportunity.
