Heather Locklear Is Back In Rehab

People is reporting that 57-year-old Heather Locklear is back in rehab after having a catastrophic 2018, to put it mildly. Heather’s 2018 involved a drunken arrest for fighting with her then-boyfriend Chris Heisser–who was also arrested for DUI. And also she was held at the hospital after threatening to shoot herself. And there were arrests and a possible overdose immediately after, and she was charged for assaulting cops, and an EMT sued her for attacking him when he was trying to help her. Like it was a full-tilt disaster–the worst, most over-theatrical episode of Melrose Place spliced in with the messiest episode of Intervention. We started seeing hope for her with promises of long-term treatmentwhich didn’t help–but then most recently we heard she was doing great after she dumped the guy who was bringing her down and was getting outpatient treatment for her issues. Well, the bad news is that it doesn’t seem like Heather has her issues under control yet, but the good news is she’s gone to rehab for more treatment.

A source says that Heather wasn’t serious about her outpatient rehab work and continued to drink, which is the number one way to show that you’re not very serious about rehab.

“She went back to rehab two weeks ago. She went back to the place she left before Christmas. She had left for three days right before Christmas and never gone back… Heather’s problem is she doesn’t get serious about anything… She was continuing to drink.”

The source says that these have been ongoing problems for the family and especially for Ava, Heather’s 21-year-old daughter with Richie Sambora:

“Her issue is alcohol, pills, and her mental health. She doesn’t want anybody to hold her accountable. She has no job, nothing to keep her accountable. This has been tearing up her family. It’s been an ongoing issue for many many years. It has been horrible for Ava.”

The source says Richie isn’t handling Heather’s problems anymore:

“Richie isn’t really involved anymore, though he has always been a great supporter. He has supported Ava and has always been there for Heather.”

The source says that Heather’s family hopes this rehab move works out, but they’ve seen this show before so they’re worried about how it ends. Apparently Heather has had sober people living with her, paying them tons, but it never worked out for her.

“Everybody is hopeful that this time will be different, but it’s just hard to tell. She’s not going into anything new is the problem though; she’s just going back to something she has done before. She has been to rehab more than 20 times, perhaps 25 times. The people are really rich, they pay for detoxes. So a lot of it has been that… She had a sober minder living with her. They pay them like $7,000 to $10,000 a week, and they absolutely haven’t worked for her.”

The source says that someone needs to take the reigns and pull a Britney Spears and lock Heather down in a conservatorship, but her parents are in their 80s.

“She won’t take any help from anybody close to her who wants to help her. She had a 5250 [hold]. And nobody did a conservatorship, nobody stepped up. … It’s the same mental health issues as well. Somebody has to take a lead on this, and nobody has any rights here except her parents… and they’re very old.”

Heather’s former rep told People that her parents are also no longer in communication with her, which I don’t get because weren’t they just living with her? So between January and now she had a falling out with her parents and is back in rehab? Oof.

I really hope that Heather gets some really good help in rehab, and turn things around. She was the original trashy blonde who had to put up with judgments and persevere to show high-class society that she was not only just as good as them, but better! Of course I’m talking about her Sammy Jo Carrington narrative, but if she could pull from Sammy Jo? She could turn things around. Sammy Jo inadvertently created a plot to murder her father-in-law and turned it around into a relationship with the son of a US Senator (Dynasty Season Six)! I mean, she ends up fist-fighting with her sister-in-law in a hotel consumed by fire, but still…
