There’s no better way for the Friends cast to promote their new projects than teasing a reunion of their retirement cash cow the show that made them all household names. Courteney Cox has a new docuseries about pregnancy on Facebook Watch (boring), and she was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday to promote that. While there, she admitted she wasn’t on Instagram until recently, Ellen dragged her for having a low follower count, and they decided to do something about it: pose in a fake Friends set to get ‘dem likes!
Entertainment Weekly says Courteney got into the nitty gritty about how the show documents some pretty serious pregnancies (and even admits to thinking it’s a little odd that the showrunners had no problem showing sobbing expectant mothers at their worst while Mariah Carey’s entire retouch team was deployed to remove even the appearance of a bridge on her nose when she was on camera). Courteney then talks about how she joined Instagram to get people to watch the show. Somewhere in there, Ellen dragged Courteney’s “sad” 55,000 followers on Facebook compared to her own 65 MILLION on Instagram. Ellen took pity on Courteney and said posing in Friends regalia and a few SlimTea posts would help transform her into an overnight influencer, and she just happened to have a Friends set ready to go.
Ah, yes, she also had Lisa Kudrow. Lisa appeared (cue the “Jennifer Aniston Not There For Courteney’s Time Of Need” headlines in Friday’s tabloids) and (yuk yuk) payed homage to the theme song by saying, “I wanted to be there for you.” That’s all fine and good, but where was the true star of that show: Smelly Cat?!?!
