Serena Williams Has Big Checks

GOAT Serena Williams has never been in it for the money. In an interview on the sports finance video series Kneading Dough, she said, “I’ve actually never played for money — I just thought you would go out there and hold a trophy.”  If she’s only in it for the trophies, then check and check! She has held more trophies than I have held dicks in my mouth (this is admittedly a modest number so maybe not the best analogy). But what about those actual checks? In the same interview, Serena tells a cute story about the time she tried to deposit her first ever million dollar check.

Recounting the event she said:

And I remember I went through the drive-thru to deposit my check, and then they were like, ‘I think you need to come in for this,’ and so I ended up going inside … ‘Just put it in my account!’

When you work as hard as Serena, you can’t be bothered with details, like how banks work. Does anybody really blame her for not walking into the bank like what. She’s got practice, people! Serena Williams is possibly the best athlete of all time. I can’t begin to imagine the kind of focus and dedication that must take. The hardest I’ve ever worked at anything was trying to get a contact lens out of my eye while drunk at three in the morning. And I gave up and went to bed with it still in and the next day my eye was hella jacked up.

Serena, who earned $27 million dollars last year, credits her parents and her humble upbringing for shaping her attitude towards money. Serena grew up in Compton in a two bedroom house shared by her family of 7. Now she’s one of the highest paid athletes in the world and engaged to a millionaire, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. She is clearly doing something right.

Plus, she is keeping it 100. Back in May, TMZ caught Serena cruising a Florida Dollar Tree looking a hot mess and not at all bothered. Apparently she’s a regular there. Serena Williams is a Goddamned queen; bow down.

Fun times @lala
