Keegan-Michael Key’s Divorce Is Getting Complicated

I also made the same face as Keegan-Michael Key while reading about the drama of his divorce. For one, because there’s a lot of it. But also because it’s just so completely random that we’re talking about the divorce of Coach Hines.

In 2015, the taller half of Key & Peele filed for divorce from his wife of 17 years, Cynthia Blaise. TMZ says that Cynthia has recently filed legal documents claiming that things haven’t been good for her ever since their divorce papers were filed two years ago. Cynthia says she’s suffering from severe depression, anxiety, hair loss, weight loss and PTSD. She claims she’s been taking 5 different medications since they decided to split.

Cynthia also claims she financially supported them on her dialect coach salary in the beginning before Keegan-Michael Key made it. They were married for 6 years before he landed MADtv. Once KMK started to make more money, Cynthia quit her job. At the time of their split, KMK had done tons of movies, five seasons of Key & Peele, and had landed a $1.2 million Toyota endorsement.

Keegan-Michael Key’s ex wants spousal support, a split of their assets, and attorney fees.

Cynthia claims she’s fallen on hard times financially because she gave up her career. She could probably get right back into it with a little practice, all while dealing with her divorce. For instance, she could re-familiarize herself with vowel sounds by hissing “Give me some damn money” at Keegan-Michael Key in several different accents.
