Janet Jackson Is Doing A Las Vegas Residency

I hope I have as much energy as Janet Jackson does when I turn 50 because I have a hard enough time now getting out of the bed after a night of partying on Monday (true story). Janet, who had a baby and probably scored a bazillion dollars in her divorce, is still going like the Energizer bunny and now wants to take her act on the road to Las Vegas.

This May there will be weaves-a-plenty summoning high winds from the amount of hair tossing Janet will do during her residency at the Park Theater at Park MGM resort, according to Variety. The show, titled Metamorphosis, will begin on May 17 which is the day after Janet’s 53rd birthday.

The show promises to be more than just Janet trying to re-create the chair scene from “Pleasure Principle” with a foot stool while she’s tied to a harness. Aside from celebrating the 30th anniversary of Janet’s iconic Rhythm Nation album, which just made me feel ancient, this show promises more.

Metamorphosis’ peels back the layers of the immensely private life of Janet Jackson, sharing her transformation from a young girl with issues of self-esteem to global Icon. The centerpiece of this all new thought-provoking show, will be Janet herself, captivating you through your senses with electrifying visuals, explosive dance numbers, chart-topping hits and fan favorite deep cuts. Fans will follow her path to self-love, empowerment, motherhood and activism, amidst the challenges faced along her personal journey. She encourages her audiences to find their own light within themselves through her ‘Metamorphosis

The 15 dates going on sale are:

May 2019: 17, 18, 21, 22, 25, 26

July 2019: 24, 26, 27, 31

August 2019: 2, 3, 7, 9, 10

Janet also took to Twitter to inform everyone that she’s ready to take their money once again, and hopefully this time she gets to keep it.

I’m going to wait and see if this is actually happening before I give her any of my damn money. This is Janet after all. She’s been known to hit folks with a quick “Gotcha bitch!” video and announce something crazy like she’s staying in to grease her scalp so the rest of the residency has been cancelled.
