Went to Memphis during Dead Elvis week and got to see the kitsch, then went to the Duran Duran concert which was dedicated to Pussy Riot. Next day went to the art museum and ate soul food for lunch. The SC ruled that abortion was a woman's right. All of the other laws are enacted by the individual states. If an abortion rights group doesn't like some of those laws they take it to the courts or put it up for a vote. Every time a Governor has tried to enact a law which would effectively end abortion in his state the citizens of that state have voted against him. This has happened even in the most conservative of states like Mississippi. This should make you feel better even if the SC ever overrules its previous decision. It's a States' Rights issue. The most an antiabortion Congressman can do is write up a bill that denies funding for abortion with our tax dollars and personally I think it is a fundamental right that someone who is against abortion shouldn't have to pay for it.

And speaking of abortion and rape, maybe I could take you "feminists" a little more seriously if you would make it a priority that when children are kicked to the abortion clinic doors by the adult men who got them that way it should be a law for the people who work in that clinic to report it to the authorities with severe consequences if they don't. Also, I'm not sure what an abortion entails but it seems to me a transvaginal ultrasound would be the least invasive procedure that would happen during one. I do realize, though, that some of the people who favor this procedure as a requirement view it at the very least as a stalling technique - an added hassle with added costs.

The vote is not about who's in the White House, not the important one anyway.

The vote is for the empty seats coming up in the Supreme Court and who will be the one appointing those justices, that's what Anony is talking about.

We're screwed if the conservatives get those appointments.

Hey TexnDoc - I'm pretty sure you're right but after the most recent Supreme Court decision... well, let's just say I don't want to take anything for granted. And while this fella and all of his czars certainly do have their heads up their asses, they are still a very sly, conniving bunch who have set the ball rolling in such a way on so many fronts that it may not matter who is in the WH for the next 50 years, and they know this. He is currently pulling a run on our treasury - and that's after all this debt. Metaphorically speaking, we as a country are crawling with a dick up our ass that is meant to stay there for a while, haha.

I am a little irked at Romney after what he did to Newt but he did save many businesses and the Olympics so I guess it's all good. However, when I look at Paul Ryan in all his glorious marigold feathery floweriness I can't help but think, "Save us Paul! Please!" I really like him and think he's smart as hell.

I had similar thoughts watching Grimm last night. It's been that way for a while now, graphic, bloody images of "dead" bodies, esp. women. Guess it's all they can do to keep audiences interested. I'd rather see occasional nudity over this mess.

Kiki, I've had Croatia 2nd on my list of places I must visit for years. (Spain is first) At first I just wanted to visit because it wasn't the usual spot that people visit. I never really wanted to visit France or Rome because those places are way too touristy.

But then I heard that it joined the EU and that it was cheap, and then I saw Bridgitte from The Girls Next Door visit on her Travel channel show and Anthony Bourdain went there for his show.

I want to go before it gets crowded with tourists! And If I ever go to Europe, I will have to visit 2 or 3 countries cuz it'll be cheaper and I don't ever think I'll be able to go back!

Hi BamBam, as soon as I write you, I'm off as I don't want to 1) read the backlash or go into political philosphy tonight with anyone. But you asked me a couple of weeks ago my views and definition of socialism and I was waiting until I thought it was an appropriate time to answer.
Here's a definition of what I was trying to say.
