during a quick scan of posts last night, i came across a picture of the "gweat & tewwible" suckandfuck. and, yes, it was like looking behind the big curtain of oz (and there's even one in the pic. oh my!) and seeing a lil old man behind the controls instead of a god-like entity that masters the universe. ...I had to cut three terribly toxic people out of my life a few years ago and wavered several times over whether I did the right thing. With time and distance comes perspective, and I know now it was the best thing to do, but it still hurts (especially when remembering the good times). But if someone isn't willing to try and see your side of an issue, or put themselves in your place (especially when you're experiencing some rough times), then they're not truly your friend. Cultivate and cherish those who can and do show empathy. They're the real keepers.

I never asked for a thing from her once she got back on her feet.
A year later, she terminated our friendship because she said I was rude to a close friend of hers. I spoke to her friend about it and the friend said she had no issue with me. Whatever bitch. I hope you and your live-in boyfriend who happens to also be your first cousin have a wonderful life, as he is using you more than you ever used me.
It is hard at first because you really do miss the people but then you realize you are much better without them.
So you're gonna continue to beat people over the head until you get what you want eh? Well....ok. I don't think think it'll work but only time will tell.

CatholicSchoolGirl - THank you for your kind words. That ment alot to me. You know I called this person sister cos she was closer to me than my two real sisters, we had shared alot but over time she became bitter and changed. You are right if someone cant show compassion when I am down after I did that for them then they were never there for me. I am hurting right now and feel like shit. But I am only open to people who will accept me for me and ass-is and not for what I can do for them.

I don't even know if you're here but before I leave for the night, Pip, I wanted to tell you that although you had a good point about the off-putting remarks about the chilrens some make on this site, where you went wrong and what got you banned is that after you made your point and some didn't agree with it, you kept on bringing it up in topic posts where no one wanted to hear about it. I think you get too caught up in tying to prove a point that you believe to be right and in doing so you sabotage yourself and the point you were trying to make gets sabotaged as well in the process. If you would have planted the seed that somethings off and then backed off and let that seed grow, it would have been MUCH more effective than the road you chose.

Owl, I just don't know what to think. The husband was always kind of an oafish type, if well-meaning; he came up to me at some party a few months after my wedding and loudly asked me in front of everyone "if the marriage was working out" without a trace of humor. The wife was, I thought, one of the nicest people in the world. She radiated warmth and kindness. Well, as they say in Moscow, apparently nyet.
My MIL is a wonderful woman, and was deeply wounded by the whole thing, in addition to being completely baffled. (And widowed.)
You just never know. Bastards never did give us a wedding gift…

Regarding shitty friends, some people are toxic and to save your OWN sanity, you really don't have a choice but to cut 'em loose. The loss of a friendship is really sad, and you genuinely have to let yourself mourn...you'll miss it for a while. But as time passes you'll realize that you're happier and better off cutting the person out. Truly toxic people often don't get the fucking point until everyone they love has cut them out; some toxic people never get the point at all. Hopefully your friends are the former.
