Open Post: Hosted By A Baseball Thief

In this educational clip, a minion from the dark side demonstrates to those interested how to get into The Greedy Evil Bitch Hall of Fame in 3 quick and easy steps:

1. Allow the thought of stealing a baseball from a child to enter into your mind.
2. Make that thought come to life by stealing a baseball right out of a child's hands thus killing her dreams for the day.
3. Celebrate crushing the spirit of a child by high-fiving your friend and letting out a victory cackle that makes Satan's horns tingle.

There you go! Even I let out a quick laugh, which means I'm totally in the running to join The Mean Evil Cunt Hall of Fame next year!

And you know what they say! Break a mirror, you get 7 years of bad luck and break a child's heart, you get 7 years of being on Miss Downriver Trash's holiday card list.

(Thanks Pamela & Dan)

Bjorkie - anytime my sweet, I meant every word. I've said it before, but the night that you, me and Hotmami talked about "The Help" and "The Gargoyle" helped me so much, you'll never, ever know. I was going through an extremely painful personal time, and coming here and relaxing, laughing and having a normal conversation about a book was exactly what I needed. I'll always be grateful to you and Hotmami for that night. People should realize that sometimes a nice word, thought or expression of support may seem like nothing, but can make all the difference to another human being. I'm realizing it's not the grand gestures but the little ones which can make a huge difference. You helped me realize that and I'll always be grateful to you for it.

No, but the concept could be a good premise for a movie (which the studios would totally fuck up in the final release).

HA! That actually would be a pretty freaky movie. If the Japanese made it...it would totally work. American version? Oy.

In a baseball roundup today, the announcer, speaking of the Jays, said one-quarter of Canada's pop lives within 100 miles of TO. Now THAT is a key fact to understanding the Great White North. :)

Really? Good ole upper Canadia. I'll be there this summer -- it's a nice city, but wouldn't want to live there. And your sister must be a very self-sufficient person if she could move to a place like PEI. It's very pretty and charming, but so small and cut-off during the winter (If it's a bad winter) I'd find it claustrophobic I think.

Halifax is *gorgeous*. Fun, sophisticated, lots to do and small enough that it's still friendly. And there's sailing. Lots of sailing. *sigh*

Sad to say, I'm sick of reading by the time I get home and my eyes hurt. I have to unwind for a few hours, then will pick up a book before bed.

My sis hasn't provided any romantic updates, so I can only guess. She's off to NS and PEI this summer, looking at schools.

I'd have the wine club start with "In Tearing Haste," cuz it's brilliant and touches on most of his life, as well as the equally fascinating life of Duchess of Devonshire. But "Time of Gifts" is lovely, too.

I meant to tell you a week ago, then forgot, that CBC had a story on the academic event in Fredericton, which they said was a "boon to the bar and taxi industry." hahaha

The 'wine club'..hahaha ta geule! Talking about books is a thirsty business. I'll take yours and Mike's advice and I'll buy both, if I can get my hands on them and then choose one of them for book club. There is *nothing* as pleasurable as a really good book. I look forward all day to getting home to read it when I'm at work.

The taxis in Fredericton are bloody awful -- sooo slow, but all those academics would have been too happy to notice, I'm sure. :)

I always found "Between the Woods and the Water" to be the most interesting, if for no other reason than that it describes a world that pretty much disappeared.

Fermor and wife were good buds with the insane, hard-drinking Mr and Mrs Ian Fleming. Fleming said he based a lot of his beach and Caribbean scenes in the James Bond series on that book.

Interesting. Didn't know that.

I liked his book on on the Caribbean, though I don't think it's written as well (stylistically speaking). Some of his social observations were surprisingly astute.

Probably it was a secret pet that was released by its owner for some reason. but they are out there.

You and your obsession with race was my point.

Do you stand up for Jews or white people when they get denigrated here? Please show me, all seeing, all knowing, all kind and loving Goddess of colorblind, anti-racist diatribe where you actually stand up for anyone but brown and black people?

You're full of shit. Go soak your blue eyes brown.

If you take the time to read these threads, it's obvious that Bjork is ALWAYS one of the first to respond to anti-semitism, misogyny, classism, homophobia AND racism. His responses are articulate and fact-based. You ask where he stands up for Jews or white people? On any post where they're denigrated by trolls and hate-mongers. On the other hand, I've never seen the same caliber of responses from you. If you're going to attack and accuse someone who's as 'on the record' with his opinions as Bjork, you may want to have your facts in order first, otherwise you come across as lazy and ignorant.

Besides, the fact that he's cyber-friends with a Catholic on this site speaks volumes.
