Because every white actress with a SAG card has to terrorize the image of Marilyn Monroe by playing her, Michelle Williams is playing MM in that My Week with Marilyn movie and here she is in full MM drag on the cover of October's (Happy Halloween!) Vogue. Yes, this is Michelle Williams AS Marilyn Monroe. It's not a still from a Halloween episode of Dawson's Creek where Jen is waiting for Grams to pick her up after Henry dumps her at a costume party or some shit. It's very "Ahs juss sittin' here waitin' for my ride.... durp... durp.... durp... duuuuuuuuuuurp."
Why couldn't they get the other Michelle Williams (from Destiny's Child) to play Marilyn Monroe instead?

Anyway, Michelle looks pretty ...she's uber petite and I do think she is a good and hard working actor. She was shit on Dawson's Creek, but c'mon that dialogue was incredibly dumb.
Sort of off topic, but I saw Factory Girl with Sienna Miller as Edie Sedgwick and was totally floored. I didn't see Sienna, I only saw Edie. Sienna nailed Edie's fragility, vulnerability, innocence and child like trust of those around her who were only exploiting her. Reminded me a lot of Marilyn Monroe.

Thats not the case. I like alot of classic actresses, she wasn't one of them. I don't particularly find her all that attractive or talented. Being young has jack squat to do with it. It's reality. Not everyone is into the bullshit legendary status of Marilyn fucking Monroe, and they had bitches who did it around and before that time, who looked and did it better. THE END.

Michelle Williams is 10 times the actress Marilyn ever was. I never really got the Marilyn obsession she is kinda pretty if you like that 10 pounds of make-up look...but she couldn't act for shit. I'd take a talented cuntress like Betty Davis over Marilyn any day.
She looks closer to Katherine Heigl than Marilyn Monroe.

A few things....
Michelle Williams is beautiful with long hair, but not with the super short hair, very average. Although she looks nothing like Marilyn Monroe she is better suited for the role than Lohan, Kim Kardashian, and all these other fools that think they're the second coming of Marilyn. I personally don't think she's that interesting or unique- give me Liz Taylor any day!
And....I 100% agree with that American Apparel ad of the ugly chick with the fat bare ass being gag worthy. I hate that fucking company and their stupid ass ads.
I'll take Michelle Williams over Lindsay Lohan any day. JUST to think how jealous LL must be over this.

MW lacks sex appeal. She is just average. Not even girl next door hot, just girl who lives on the same block as you.
MM was NOT a great actress, unless you have low standards. Compare her to Jane Russell in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and her acting was nothing. She did have great presence though, and was nice to look at. I also found her likable on-screen.
Let's cut the crap here - she reached her Iconic status simply because she died young. Her talent was overrated because she was "troubled".
Michelle Williams, on the other hand - people only started giving a shit about her after Heath Ledger died. And her nose job is awful.

Marilyn was a very, very good actress. As someone pointed out, she stole the small scene she was in in "All About Eve," and we're talking from a major league actor (George Sanders, who won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for AAE).
MM also gave terrific performances in "Don't Bother to Knock," "Niagra," "Some Like it Hot," and "The Seven-Year Itch" to name just a few. She was no tits-and-ass gimmick girl--she was the real deal.
MW can certainly act but she's neither sexy nor charismatic, both of which MM was in spades.
Anyone who thinks MM was a glorified whore who slept her way to the top obviously knows absolutely nothing about the woman.

Louise Brooks had an equally fascinating life, but much of her misfortune was her own doing, whereas MM was a bundle of psychological problems on a speeding little red wagon that crashed into a wall at age 36. Louise Brooks lived to her 70s and wrote interesting books. People want to identify more with MM because identifying with Louise Brooks hits uncomfortably close to home.
