After Giving Aunt Jemima The Boot, PepsiCo Has Revealed Its New Syrup And Pancake Mix Logo

February 10, 2021 / Posted by:

It’s finally happened! Thanks to corporate America, racism is dead! I don’t even know what to do with myself right now, I never thought I’d see it happen in my lifetime. With a small assist from the NFL who did their part by hiding the words “end racism” on the back of Tom Brady’s helmet, PepsiCo has leveled the final blow by relieving Aunt Jemima from her duties as the name and face of their pancake syrup and replaced her with a 19th-century watermill named Pearl Milling Company, effectively ending centuries of racial strife. Free at last, free at last! I guess now we just sit back and wait for our reparations checks to arrive. I wonder if they’ll just add that to our stimulus checks or if it will come as a separate payment. Guess we’ll find out soon enough!

John Boyega Says Disney Used His Race To Market “Star Wars” And Then Sidelined His Character

September 2, 2020 / Posted by:

Back in June John Boyega made headlines when he gave an impassioned, impromptu speech at a Black Lives Matter protest in London. In it, he said, “I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this, but fuck that.” Celebs like Jordan Peele, Olivia Wilde, and his Star Wars director JJ Abrams took to Twitter to assure John that they’d still love to work with him.

Now, John’s continuing that honesty streak in a new interview with GQ. He discusses Black Lives Matter, his personal journey to self-actualization, and being a Black actor in the Star Wars franchise. He says that he, along with other actors of color like Naomi Ackie, Kelly Marie Tran, and even Oscar Isaac (whom John refers to as “a brother from Guatemala”), were trotted out to sell the movies, but sidelined in the actual films.

The NBA, WNBA, MLB, MLS, And Naomi Osaka All Went On Strike To Protest Against Police Brutality

August 27, 2020 / Posted by:

The Milwaukee Bucks were supposed to play the Orlando Magic in the NBA playoffs last night, but the game did not go on, because the Bucks decided to strike against systematic racism and police brutality, like the police killing of Breonna Taylor and the shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black man who has been left partially paralyzed after Officer Rusten Sheskey shot him seven times as he walked to his car in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The NBA was in a quarantine bubble because of the pandemic, but it was systemic racism that popped that shit open and players had it. After the Bucks’ announcement, the NBA announced that all three playoff games would not go down last night and would be postponed. That led to the WNBA, a handful of Major League Baseball teams, some Major League Soccer teams, and tennis star Naomi Osaka all using their voices and fame to bring attention to police brutality. Kenny Smith of TNT’s Inside The NBA also walked out in solidarity. Meanwhile, side-eyes were thrown at the NHL for going on with their games. But they did put up an “End Racism” graphic on a screen during a game in Toronto and the announcer called for their community to stand up for social justice.

In case you were not aware, Dolly Parton is a beautiful angel whose wings rest inside her many wigs, which is why it always looks like she’s floating on air. Clearly, you see I Stan for Dolly. And now, after finding out she stands 100% in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement don’t be surprised if you see me next week waiting by the gates of Dollywood for my hero to arrive so she can sign my VHS copy of Straight Talk.

Oprah Winfrey Bought Several Dozen Billboards In Kentucky To Demand Justice For Breonna Taylor

August 7, 2020 / Posted by:

One of the most frustrating things on social media at the moment is the amount of people screaming for someone, anyone – but preferably the authorities – to arrest the three Louisville Metro Police Department officers who shot and killed 26-year-old EMT Breonna Taylor in her home in March 2020. It’s been five months of effort, both good and not so great, and Breonna’s family is no closer to justice. Oprah Winfrey is clearly getting tired waiting for anything to be done, and so she recently paid to have a whole bunch of billboards erected around Louisville, Kentucky, demanding that the officers involved finally be arrested and charged.

Ryan Reynolds Calls His And Blake Lively’s Plantation Wedding A “Mistake”

August 4, 2020 / Posted by:

Back at the beginning of June, many celebrities decided to lend their support to the Black Lives Matter movement and have some big, bold conversations about systemic racism. Like Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, who posted a five-part statement to social media, acknowledging how “uninformed” they were about racism, and that they had donated $200,000 to the NAACP to help mitigate their past “mistakes.” But they never specified what those mistakes were. Well what do you know, it would appear that one of the Lively-Reynolds’es finally got around to addressing the giant plantation in the room.
