Rosie O’Donnell Admits She Still Doesn’t Trust Ellen DeGeneres After All Of These Years

We all know Rosie O’Donnell’s favorite pastime is holding a grudge, as she has exhibited with former Cheeto in Charge Donald Trump. But aside from their ongoing battle, Rosie has also been very outspoken towards others like Bill Cosby and 70’s pop tart Leif Garrett, whom she claims turned her talk show green room into a crack den. But of all the Beefs she’s been entangled with, the one that stings the most is her longstanding battle with Ellen DeGeneres. The former Queen of Kind quickly melted into a puddle of tears shouting, “What a world!” once she was exposed as the Wicked Witch of Hollywood. Now, as Ellen awaits the proper amount of time to try and be our favorite wacky neighbor once again, Rosie is reminding everyone why she and Ellen have had issues in the first place.
People reports that Ellen sat down with Larry King for an interview many years ago, and it took a turn for the amnesia once Rosie’s name was mentioned. Ellen claimed she didn’t know Rosie and they weren’t friends. But according to Rosie, they were friends. And Ellen’s dismissive diss to her sister in the name of comedy didn’t take too kindly to her response.
“She texted me a few weeks ago checking in, seeing how I’m doing, and I asked her how she’s surviving not being on TV,” O’Donnell, 61, told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s a big transition. But we’ve had our weirdness in our relationship. I don’t know if it’s jealousy, competition or the fact that she said a mean thing about me once that really hurt my feelings.”
Rosie claims the pleasantries were nice, but she’s never forgotten how Ellen tried to give her the Mariah Carey/J. Lo treatment. And although Ellen played the “Who said that?” game with Rosie at this point, it really doesn’t matter. Because Rosie and Ellen will never be friends again.
“[Ellen] wrote, ‘I’m really sorry, and I don’t remember that.’ I guess she saw me talk about it on Andy Cohen’s show,” O’Donnell said of DeGeneres, 65. “I remembered it so well, I had T-shirts printed and I gave them to my staff that said ‘I don’t know Rosie. We’re not friends.”
For context, here’s Rosie reliving her rocky road with Ellen during WWHL a few months ago:
