Rebel Wilson Talked About Dieting And Claims You Don’t Need To Eat As Many Calories As You Think

As we all know, Rebel Wilson has lost weight. About 80 pounds in three years. In that time, she’s also gained a fiancée, Ramona Agruma, a baby daughter, Royce Lillian, a loungewear fashion brand, and a new dating app called Fluid (its whole thing is not labeling users’ sexuality). Last night, Rebel officially launched the app at an event in Beverly Hills and invited The Daily Mail to promote that shit. But, soon, the conversation shifted to how Rebel “maintains her incredible figure.” Turns out, Rebel eats better, exercises, and went to a super-fancy detox program in Austria that taught her the human body only needs 600 calories a day. Riiiight.
Rebel clarified that the 600-calorie-a-day thing is for detox purposes and not intended for daily routine. She also “did not say” if she followed this plan. Here’s what she did say about her recent week-long detox program, VIVAMAYR:
‘I was just actually in a program where I learned about food and they taught us that you don’t really need as many calories as you think,’ shared Rebel.
‘Everyone thinks that you need to eat so much in your body needs it but the truth is your body doesn’t need a lot of calories and I know that might sound crazy to some people but if you eat right and you eat small portions you’ll be just fine,’ said the singer.
Sounds like diet culture ideology. Which is baaaad. And completely unsustainable. Hell, even 1,200 calories a day is said to be disordered eating. But Rebel continued:
‘The problem is that people are stuck at a desk or in their car and they tend to get hungry and they want to eat because that’s how they deal with stress or it’s a habit but the truth is you just don’t need all those calories,’ she explained.
Rebel says her original goal weight was 165 pounds, which was a 75-pound loss from her starting weight (you do the math, me too lazy). But then, she thought, “I can go further, so it’s sort of tough.” Rebel adds that having a newborn baby made her gain some weight back. Even though she didn’t give birth to Royce (she used a surrogate), she blames the gain on a lack of sleep and change in her lifestyle.
Rebel also shared that her “thing” is that she’s an emotional eater. Wait, I thought her “thing” was being a Disney adult! Welp, if her app has taught us anything, we shouldn’t slap labels on people:
‘Sometimes it’s hard for me because I’m an emotional eater that is my issue I eat when my emotions run high. I still struggle with that and I still work with that all the time it’s just a process, it’s a journey.’
And she cleared up the incorrect rumour that she skips carbs. ‘A lot of people think that I don’t eat carbs but I do eat carbs I just eat them in small portions. I do eat pizza and I do eat pasta I just don’t eat a lot of it,’ she said.
Wilson also named her cheat food. ‘My cheat food is ice cream – I really do love ice cream, and my favorite is Ben & Jerry’s it always has been it’s great quality and it’s so satisfying,’ said the star. ‘When I wasn’t watching my weight I would sit down and eat a pint of Ben & Jerry’s sometimes, it’s just what I did- it was a habit – but now I’m much more careful I will have like a third of a pint and I’ll eat it slowly I won’t eat the whole pint at all that’s in my past.’
Ya know, I don’t blame Rebel for talking about dieting last night. It’s actually pretty smart. Go ahead. Blab about your weight loss at the promotional event for your app, Fluid. Inevitably, that shit will make headlines cuz everyone is obsessed with celebrities and their bodies. And, because journalism is Who (Rebel Wilson), What (talked about her weight), When (last night), Where (at a promotional event for her app, Fluid), Why (to promote her app, Fluid), now we’re all talking about her app, Fluid. Marketing genius!
