Amy Schumer Goes After Hilaria Baldwin In Her New Stand Up Special

Amy Schumer has a new stand-up special on Netflix called Emergency Contact, and- STOP! Before you click away, this is a Hilaria Baldwin post! Phew. Alright, where was I? So, Amy has a new special, and, according to USA Today, she goes after Hilaria and Alec Baldwin. Amy jokes about #Pepinogate, the Rust shooting, and calls Hilaria a “sociopath.” Now, now, Amy, it’s not very nice to diagnose people you don’t know. Unless you met them one time backstage at SNL. You did? Great, then diagnose away!

42-year-old Amy says she met 39-year-old Hilaria “years ago” backstage at Saturday Night Live. Amy says Hilaria told her she was “from España” and used a “very thick” Spanish accent (which Amy mimics). She continues. via USA Today:

“They have a von Trapp amount of children, and they named them all ― I’m not sure, but very Spanish names like Jamón, Croqueta and Flamenco,” Schumer continues. “And all of this would be fine and beautiful, except that ‘Hilaria from España’ is actually Hillary from Boston. This woman is in no way Spanish. Her parents are not from Spain. No one in her life is from Spain. You’re going, ‘What?!’ Did you think I was just doing a really racist Spanish impression?

“So, I’m not trying to bully a sociopath. I have a point, OK?” Schumer continues. “I think what had happened was she went to Spain. And I’ve been lucky enough to go to Spain. Some of you have been. It’s great, right? Don’t you love it? I loved it, too. But Hillary from Boston … loooved it!” Schumer reverts to the Spanish accent before declaring “I am going to be from it!”

Then, Amy includes 65-year-old Alec in her roast:

“My point is that all evidence points to this woman, since she met her husband, has straight up pretended to be from Spain,” Schumer says in her special. “And her husband shot someone.” Schumer’s point: Neither cares about the other’s transgressions in their marriage, so “find someone who can stand you.”

Here’s Amy going after the Baldwins:

It’s easy to forget that Amy actually played a significant role in Hilaria’s outing back in December 2020. The week before Pepinogate reeeally exploded, Amy reposted an Instagram photo of Hilaria posing with her most recent baby, wearing just a bra and underwear. In the caption, Amy jokingly pretended it was her and her baby. I guess this ignited body shaming in the comments? Cuz Hilaria was so svelte post-partum? Either way, Hilaria posted a video response to this “scandal,” and, unfortunately for her, the accent she randomly selected that day was very much American. Unbeknownst to Hilaria, this was very bad timing. You see, just a couple days before Amy got messy, @lenibriscoe posted an exposé Twitter thread that began, “You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin’s commitment to her decade long grift where she impersonates a Spanish person.” Soon, Internet sleuth Tracie Morrissey jumped on the “let’s get Hilaria!” bandwagon, posted a bunch of damning evidence on her Instagram Stories, and before you could remember the English word for “Pepino,” everybody and their madre were obsessed with Hilaria’s phony Spanish heritage.

Last year, Amy made Baldwin-adjacent headlines again when she shared a joke she wasn’t allowed to tell while hosting the 2022 Oscars. It was something like, “‘Don’t Look Up’ is the name of a movie, more like don’t look down the barrel of Alec Baldwin’s shotgun.”

Amy gets a lot of hate online, so it’s actually a pretty smart PR move to go after two people who get even more hate. If you can get the anti-Baldwin contingent on your side, you’re basically halfway to world domination!
