Open Post: Hosted By Pizza Hut’s Pickle Pizza That’s Exclusive To NYC
The citizens of New York deserve a much-needed interruption from choking on orange, polluted air. And for those bold enough to venture out, they’re in luck for a culinary flavor explosion in their mouth holes. Because this weekend, for forty-eight hours only, Pizza Hut is releasing a pickle pizza that sounds like something Shaggy, Scooby, and the rest of the stoners of the world would rejoice in consuming. But unfortunately, it will only be served at one particular NYC Pizza Hut location, and they have a very specific reason why they’re not releasing the pie outside of the Empire State.
Now mind you, pickle pizza isn’t a new concept. But The Takeout reports Pizza Hut enters the history books as the first major food chain to offer it on their menu. And it’s packed with enough ingredients to skyrocket tastebuds (and sodium levels) into the stratosphere.
The Pizza Hut Pickle Pizza will be available June 9 to 11, while supplies last, at one precise location: 932 8th Avenue in New York City. It is only available for carryout, must be ordered in-store, and costs $17.99. The super-limited-time offering features Pizza Hut’s hand-tossed crust sauced with Buttermilk Ranch and topped with cheese, breaded chicken breast seasoned with Nashville Hot Seasoning, and sliced white onions. The whole pie is then loaded with spicy dill pickles and a drizzle of Buttermilk Ranch to finish.
As a fellow pizza whore I would eat the hell out of this. However, others are probably gagging at the idea this pizza even exists. But the location and reasoning behind this seasoning is on purpose. Especially given New Yorkers’ love for two things: pizza and pickles.
“With our new Pickle Pizza, we’re tapping into the latest food trends while also putting culinary thought into how they come to life on a pizza,” said Penny Shaheen, Head of Food Innovation, in the Pizza Hut announcement. “Our recipe is all about great flavor, balancing the tanginess of pickles with other classic ingredients we know taste good on our beloved pizza.”
Someone let me know how this turns out because it could go either way. Especially if the pizza chefs are as high as the executives were when they came up with this idea. Because this didn’t come from a collective of sober minds.
