Jim Bob And Michelle Duggar Aren’t Happy About The “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets” Docuseries

The occasions for which Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar turn off their perma-creep-smiles are few and far between. The last time was probably when the law dared to hold their molesting, child pornography-possessing son, Josh Duggar, accountable for his despicable actions. But, a new Prime Video docuseries, Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, came out today, and their daughter Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard participated in it to speak out about the inner workings of the once clandestinely (but now obviously) sinister family and their extreme religious upbringing in the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP), in which women are basically seen as constantly reproducing skirted vaginas with a smile. Naturally, Jim Bob and Michelle aren’t thrilled about it and barfed out a syrupy-yet-disapproving statement.

E! News says that Duggar-distanced Jill and Derick decided to talk so the story would be told accurately.

Jill, 32, shared in a May 18 trailer for Duggar Family Secrets that she came forward in order to set the record straight on events in her life.

“There’s a story that’s going to be told,” the Counting On star shared. “And I would rather be the one telling it.”

Here’s the official trailer:

In response, Jim Bob, 57, and Michelle, 56, released a performatively kind and caring “note” on their completely unnecessary family website yesterday and criticized the show, lamented the nature of entertainment today, and called for their family matters to be dealt with in private–which is super ironic since they pimped the whole family out on 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On for years and years. And, of course, they finished by name-dropping Jesus.

The recent “documentary” that talks about our family is sad because in it we see the media and those with ill intentions hurting people we love. Like other families, ours too has experienced the joys and heartbreaks of life, just in a very public format. This “documentary” paints so much and so many in a derogatory and sensationalized way because sadly that’s the direction of entertainment these days.

We have always believed that the best chance to repair damaged relationships, or to reconcile differences, is through love in a private setting. We love every member of our family and will continue to do all we can to have a good relationship with each one. Through both the triumphs and the trials we have clung to our faith all the more and discovered that through the love and grace of Jesus, we find strength, comfort, and purpose.

Jesus has yet to comment, but I’d imagine he wants them to keep his name out their fuckin’ mouths since their “Jesus’ Love and Grace Tank” is empty after Josh sucked that shit dry with the help of their enabling
