John Stamos Says He Was Angry With The Olsen Twins For Turning Down “Fuller House”

John Stamos was on a podcast last month and talked about that time when he had a full-grown “have [no] mercy” man-trum while filming the very first episode of Full House and demanded that barely-year-old babies, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, get fired for crying. But since he basically called the replacement babies fug and awful, the Olsen Twins made their return which eventually launched them into straight-to-VHS kid stardom. As such, adult Mary-Kate and Ashley turned John down a few years ago when he asked them to return for the Fuller House reboot on Netflix, probably because they’re reclusive, already super rich, and knew the show would be a huge, stinking, even-cornier-than-the-original turd. And apparently, John’s fits haven’t evolved much since 1987 because he was just on another podcast and said he was visibly, publicly pissed at them for sitting the show out. However, John says he and the twins ended up hashing it out after coming together to mourn the untimely death of their co-star, Bob Saget.

People says John, 59, was recently on the And That’s What You Really Missed podcast, and it looks like things have come full circle since back in the day when he wanted the twins to get the hell off the show, but in the recent past was furious they wouldn’t come back. It’s giving Cats in the Cradle.

“The twins moved to New York. And I gotta tell you, one of the only good things to come out of Bob’s [death] Well… Mary-Kate and Ashley, we didn’t see them much. I mean, we stayed in touch a little bit, but Bob really did. And they were so great. You hear rumors, ‘Oh, they hated their childhood, or they hated being on the show or whatever,'” he said.

“When I did Fuller House, they didn’t wanna come back. And I was angry for a minute,” Stamos admitted. “And that got out.”

Stamos previously discussed asking the twins to reprise their roles in the reboot in 2016 on Howard Stern‘s SiriusXM radio show.

“So I did call, I talked to Mary-Kate and I explained kind of what the show was going to be, and told them I would love them to be on there, and they decided not to, which I respect.”

But while his anger was marinating, Bob passed away. Bob’s Danny Tanner was the patriarch of the show, and life must’ve imitated art because John says Bob was the one who kept the peace and held everyone in the cast together while he was alive. It was Bob’s death that helped John, Mary Kate, and Ashley make peace–with an assist from a single pork chop and some sage.

He said that Full House costar Bob Saget had been “very instrumental” in keeping the cast together, and his death brought about a moment between Stamos and the Olsen sisters where they had a frank discussion about the show.

“But they were, like, ‘We loved our childhood. We loved being with you. We miss Bob.’ They came over to my house. They brought a pork chop and sage. I don’t know why, but thank you? It was a frozen pork chop, so that was really nice. So we stayed very close.”

Here’s John on the pod doing that thing he does where he comes off as kind of a smarmy jerkoff but then smoothes things over by tousling his hair and reminding everyone he knows The Beach Boys:

Not surprising? John having another fit. The shocker here? The fact that the Olsens eat or even touch solid foods, let alone pork chops. I always just assumed they subsisted on a consistent diet of cigs, marrying millionaire men, and the souls of their enemies!
