Billie Eilish Slams Critics Calling Her A “Sellout” For Changing Her Style

Earlier this month, a rep confirmed that Billie Eilish and The Neighbourhood frontman Jesse Rutherford pulled the plug on their relationship of less than a year. And now that Billie doesn’t need to fend off backlash from dating someone 10 years her senior, she’s on a quest to find something else to go off on- and for now, it looks like it’s gonna have to be dragging people who call her a “sellout” after shifting her style from exclusively wearing oversized hoodies to now only sometimes wearing oversized hoodies.

After Billie hit a breaking point with the criticism aimed at her style, she took her thoughts to Instagram where she lit up her Stories with a multi-part rant. via Entertainment Tonight:

“I spent the first 5 years of my career getting absolutely OBLITERATED by you fools for being boy ish and dressing how I did & constantly being told I’d be hotter if I acted like a woman and now when I feel comfortable enough to wear anything remotely feminine or flirting, I CHANGED and am a sellout.. and ‘what happened to her’ oMg iT’s nOt thE sAmE biLlie she’s just like the rest bla blah,” she wrote in her Story to a photo of her rolling her eyes. “[Y]ou guys are true idiots. LOL I can be BOTH you f***ing bozos. LET WOMEN EXIST! :))))”

Another Story included text overlayed to a photo of her smiling and looking into to the camera: “FUN FACT! Did you know that women are multifaceted!!!!!??? Shocking right?? Believe it or not women can be interested in multiple things.”

A 21-year-old using “bozo” as an insult? Must’ve learned that one from Jesse!  Here’s more of what Billie had to say:

Veteran fashion disrupters like Madonna and Lady Gaga are probably looking at this meltdown over formfitting clothing like it’s child’s play. Go out in public wearing a meat dress, and then you’ll see what real condemnation looks like, Billie!
