Taylor Swift Is Getting Called Out For Her “Calculated” Collaboration With Ice Spice

Subtle” was redefined yesterday when Taylor Swift burped up the news that she’s releasing new versions of two songs from her album Midnights. TayTay announced that she and Lana Del Rey recorded a new version of their song Snow on the Beach and that she and IT rapper of the moment, Ice Spice, did a remix of her song Karma. Many have stamped the latter collab with the words “DAMAGE CONTROL” since TayTay’s current poo (typo and it stays), Matty Healy, laughed at racist comments about Ice Spice on a podcast. And while some Swifties have once again defended their savior over this, others are adding this damage control jewel to TayTay’s Queen of Performative Acts crown.

Midnights was released last October, and she followed that up with the 3 a.m. Edition, featuring seven new songs, and a Lavender Edition (TARGET EXCLUSIVE!). And now TayTay has pulled yet another version out of her ass. Taylor let her fans know that they better get their credit cards ready again because she’s releasing a Til Dawn Edition of the album as well as selling a special CD version at her Eras Tour shows in New Jersey this weekend. Can’t wait for her to announce another EXCLUSIVE version coming only to HitClips! Taylor tweeted this:

Um. SO much to tell you. I’m a massive fan of this brilliant artist and after getting to know her I can confirm: she is THE ONE to watch. So delighted to say that Karma Featuring the incredible @icespicee_
will be out TOMORROW night at MIDNIGHT ET as a part of the new Midnights (Til Dawn Edition) deluxe album that you can pre-order now at http://taylor.lnk.to/thetildawnedition!

In addition to Karma Ft Ice Spice… You asked for it, we listened: Lana and I went back into the studio specifically to record more Lana on Snow on the Beach. Love u Lana 🥰😆☺️

But wait there’s more… for those of you going to the East Rutherford shows – we will have a new special edition CD available ONLY on site starting at 12:30pm ET on Friday! This CD will have a never before heard Midnights vault track called “You’re Losing Me”!

Ice Spice also announced the collab on Twitter and threw in an air kiss of love at Taylor:

While Ice Spice herself obviously doesn’t mind this collab, many others do. Taylor is being accused of using a Black woman to cover her ass, and this move has been called “insidiously calculated.” Because a quick second after it was reported that Taylor had quickly moved on from Joe Alwyn to The 1975’s Matty Healy, articles about his past messiness came out. And Matty’s resume of fucked-up shit includes him doing the Nazi salute at a show and admitting on a podcast that he gets off on racist torture porn. During that episode of the podcast, The Adam Friedland Show, Matty laughed as the hosts made racist comments about Ice Spice. The episode came out this past February (and was later pulled from Spotify and Apple).

At a 1975 show in New Zealand on April 21, Matty mouth-sharted up a non-apology, saying, “I just feel a bit bad, and I’m kind of sorry if I’ve offended you. Ice Spice, I’m sorry.”As for the timeline of Taylor’s collab with Ice Spice, the CIA branch of the Swifties is on it. Taylor and Joe Alwyn reportedly broke up in February, and she got with Matty shortly after that. The Swifties claim that the copyright for Karma was updated on April 13, about a week before Matty’s “apology” to Ice Spice. So some Swifties think Taylor made him apologize.

And even though the Swifties have posted an open letter to Taylor about their disappointment in her dating an edge lord, she hasn’t said anything about the backlash. In fact, she said at a recent show that she’s happier than ever. Taylor continued to prove her happiness by touching mouths with Matty while hanging out with Jack Antonoff, Margaret Qualley, and Zoë Kravitz in NYC last night. via People:

The fledgling couple was spotted engaging in some PDA at the members-only venue Zero Bond in downtown New York City on Wednesday, an onlooker tells PEOPLE.

On her day off from tour, Swift, 33, and Healy, 34, spent time with a group of pals, including Zoë Kravitz, Margaret Qualley and her fiancé, Jack Antonoff — one of Swift’s longtime collaborators. “Taylor and Matty were kissing,” adds the source.

So who knows if Taylor will eventually say anything about the Matty backlash or if she’ll just continue to respond through new editions of her album. I mean, at this very moment, her team may be Googling “most popular Jewish singers and rappers of 2023” while looking for possible collaborations for Midnights (The Menorah Edition).
