Open Post: Hosted By The Dog Who Was “High Out Of His Mind” After A Vet’s Visit

Doctor’s appointments aren’t always enjoyable. As you get older, you get less, “You’re looking great. See you next year.” to “Good Lord, what the hell have you done to yourself?!” But sometimes the visits can still be a lot of fun, ifyaknowhatImean. A pup had an encounter with some of the doctor’s good stuff and left the office as high as Snoop Dog after a party hosted by Willie Nelson!

In a viral TikTok post, Michel Janse shared one of her favorite moments of her dog Max. After bringing her buddy home from a procedure at the vet’s office, which required anesthesia, she realized that Max had embarked on the trip of a lifetime.

I’ve seen that face on people, and I can say with the utmost certainty that Max was seeing Dog God! He was seeing music, hearing colors, and experiencing a spiritual awakening. According to Newsweek, anesthesia can make dogs woozy for a short while, so pet parents should take extra care of their furry pals after a procedure. (There’s no advice on whether or not you should TikTok your dog’s acid trip for viral fame, though.)

Patrik Holmboe, head veterinarian at Amsterdam’s Cooper Pet Care, told Newsweek that if your pet is coming out of anesthesia, make sure it has a quiet and comfortable environment.

“This one is very important,” he said. “Your dog will likely be groggy and unsteady after anesthesia, so you absolutely want to make things easy and safe for them. Make sure they have a quiet, comfortable place to rest and recover. Avoid loud noises and disruptions. Stairs are a no-no. Limit their activity to a minimum.”

Grogginess is normal, but if your dog starts writing psychedelic prog rock while on its trip, it’s time to go back to the vet ASAP!
