Billy McFarland Claims He Found Financial Backers For Fyre Fest 2.0 and A Broadway Musical

Elevator pitch bro turned con artist Billy McFarland was released from prison about a year ago after serving time for wire fraud and defrauding his investors in the pursuit of organizing his failed luxury music festival, Fyre Fest. After getting slapped with a $26 million restitution bill and serving four years behind bars- he’s had a lot of time to think about what he’s done. And Billy’s sooooo sowwy about it all that he’s back to do it again. Last month, Billy announced that he plans to do Fyre Fest 2.0, and the collective response was basically, “Yeah, okay bud, good luck with that.” But this week, Billy came back to TikTok to say he’s in talks with financial backers to make it happen. Either those investors are looking for new ways to waste money, or those investors are about as real as a well-cooked gourmet meal at Fyre Fest.
While it’s hard to imagine anyone would ever open up their wallets to him again, Billy claims he found people who are going to help him make his new ventures happen. Here’s his announcement as reported by Complex:
“I have some huge news today … The plan was to do Fyre Festival 1.5 as a Broadway musical, but things totally blew up,” he said on TikTok. “So I’m announcing two things today: One, that Fyre Festival 1.5 is going to be a Broadway musical; and that two, we are in talks with partners to pay back all of my restitution and execute Fyre Festival 2 according to the original vision on this incredible and beautiful island. We have to do it right, guys, we have to make happen what was the dream.”

@pyrtbilly Two 🔥 updates: FYRE Festival is happening!!
Along Billy’s path of mania is also his venture to make Fyre Fest into- and this is not satire- a Broadway musical! At this point, he’s just giving us different mediums in which we can watch influencers and models lose their shit for our entertainment. He explained to YouTuber Adam Glyn that instead of a traditional musical, “it’s going to be current music artists, combined with the Broadway format of the play — making fun of me, but also, I think sharing some of the good sides as well.” That sounds like a coherent project that has all the makings of becoming as successful as the original Fyre Festival.
Crazy idea- but just maybe- Billy should just focus on actually paying back all the people he scammed instead of burping up news about projects that will never happen. One of his investors, a man named John Nemeth, who forked over $180,000 of his life savings to Billy for the original Fyre Fest, told Rolling Stone that he doesn’t think he’s ever going to get his money back:
“The man should be in jail for the rest of his life; he ruined my life,” he says. “I’m never gonna recoup that money. He stole it. He has no business being out of jail. That’s what happens when you are born from rich parents and you can afford the best lawyers, but you can’t pay back the people that you’ve robbed.”
I feel bad for his first round of investors, but now anyone who agrees to give Billy McFarland their money this time around kinda deserves to lose it. And if Fyre Festival 2.0 ever happens, I’m sure that Billy’s event producer turned Instagram video co-star, Andy King, will be back. But Andy, this time around, make Billy do the blowing for bottled water, okay?
