Taylor Lautner Is “Praying For” John Mayer With The Looming Re-Release Of Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now”

Taylor Swift announced she was re-releasing her third studio album, Speak Now, this coming July, and the Swifties buckled up for losing their minds even more than they are over the Eras Tour she’s currently on. And the men on the album buckled up for the resurgence of hatred from all of Taylor’s fans for the ways they did her dirty. This album’s targets include Taylor Lautner and John Mayer, and while Taylor L. is not worried about Taylor S.’s fans roasting him, he recently said he’s “Praying for John.” Well, John doesn’t deserve the prayers, but Taylor L. does have the right idea because after Taylor S. released the music video for All Too Well (10 Minute Version), the Swifties remembered that they hate Jake Gyllenhaal after all these years. So John had better buckle up for the barrage that is inevitably coming his way. He’s gonna get so many rat emojis and death threats.

Taylor and Taylor dated for just a couple of months in 2009, and she wrote the song Back to December about their breakup. But it was just a couple of months, and honestly, the lyrics kind of paint her as the one who dumped him with lyrics like, “It turns out freedom ain’t nothin’ but missin’ you, Wishin’ I’d realized what I had when you were mine.”

E! News says Taylor L.’s wife, also named Taylor Lautner, is a big fan of the album and was on the podcast The Viall Files saying that “Speak Now was one of the best albums of all time. Just the lyrics are insane.” So she and her husband can listen along to Taylor Swift lamenting how she dumped him, and he’s looking forward to it also:

“I think it’s a great album,” Lautner, who dated Swift for a few months in 2009, told TODAY.com May 16. “Yeah, I feel safe. Praying for John.”

John and Taylor worked on his song Half of My Heart and were linked to each other in 2009 and 2010. But shit obviously did not end well for them, and Speak Now features the song, Dear John, which is all about an older man who treated her like shit and was predatory. The lyrics go: “Don’t you think nineteen is too young / To be played by your dark twisted games, when I loved you so?” Taylor L. posted a TikTok of him praying for John using the song itself:

Taylor L. is really milking this–the only man to escape Taylor S. without a bad song about him. What is his secret? Taylor’s most recent ex, Joe Alwyn, needs to call Taylor L. up and find out how to get the Swifties to stop harassing his co-stars when they share pictures of him.
