Open Post: Hosted By Martha Stewart On The Cover Of Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Edition

Back in 2020, Martha Stewart went viral when she posted a pouty pool thirst trap to her Instagram. Last month, she teased that more sexy pics were on the way. Turns out, she wasn’t kidding. Martha Stewart horndogs rejoice, for today is the day your goddess appears on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition! At age 81, she’s the magazine’s oldest cover model in history. And if you’re thinking, “Where’s the pool?? Where’s the pout?” don’t you worry. There are plenty of wet n’ wild poots in the full photoshoot…

Page Six reports that Martha went on The Today Show this morning to unveil her cover. It was also her first time seeing the photo Sports Illustrated chose for the cover. She admits that, before the big reveal, she was “sort of shaking.” Martha says the experience of being photographed in swimwear in front of a bunch of randos was “odd.” But she was satisfied with the final result, telling Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, “I like that picture.” I wonder how many marriage proposals she’ll get from it…

Martha says the magazine called her up in November and told her she’d need to be ready to pose for the cover in January. Martha admits it was a challenge, and she didn’t “eat any bread or pasta for a couple months” and went to Pilates every other day. Martha says her cover is a testament to “good living” and not aging. She thinks the concept of aging is “so boring,” and we should all be focused on “growing old gracefully” (Martha has denied getting plastic surgery) and “successful living” (eating well, exercising, and having friends and pets that make us happy). Here’s Martha’s Today appearance:

Martha says she was inspired by her own mother, Martha Kostyra, who wore a two-piece bikini even after having six kids. She posted about “Big Martha” yesterday for Mother’s Day:

As everyone and their mother and their grandmother knows, Martha actually got her start as a model in the fifties and sixties. She said that her career was “really helpful” in building her confidence. Here’s more of Martha in SI:

At the very end of her Today appearance, Savannah mentioned that Martha was one of four women gracing the 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, and they were revealing those covers too. Martha responded, “Oh yeah, right. I don’t even know. I don’t know!” When they showed the covers with Kim Petras, Megan Fox, and Brooks Nader, Martha said, “Oh wow. Uh huh. Look how great we all look!” Translation: “Who the fuck are these other bitches?”:
