King Charles Poses With His Family, Queen Camilla, And The Future Kings In A New Series Of Portraits

Hot on the heels of his big crowning ceremony and concert that brought out the biggest and brightest in reality tv show hosts, King Charles has released his official portraits. You can’t have layer after layer of heavy, shiny shit put onto you without having it photographed for posterity. One portrait is of the whole gang, the next has him with the final boss of side pieces, Queen Camilla, and the other features two famous guest stars, both of his sausage fingers, Prince William and Prince George. Sadly, the true star of the Coronation, Sir Karl Jenkins, is nowhere in any of these portraits.

It was well documented that King Charles looked absolutely thrilled to be heaped with the world’s oldest blood diamonds, so it was only right to have him pose pose pose! Throughout the week, The Royal Family has been milking the Coronation by releasing pictures from King Chucky’s big day. Yesterday, they happily shared the group shot from the celebrations. Presenting the modern monarchy!

If you told me this was a retouched photo from 1787, I wouldn’t have batted an eye. But the photo that has everyone most excited is Charles with his son and grandson a.k.a. two future kings.

People has more on this family photo:

The snap, taken in the Throne Room of Buckingham Palace, showed King Charles in full royal regalia, wearing the Robe of Estate, the Imperial State Crown and holding the Sovereign’s Orb and Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross. The monarch is shown seated on one of a pair of 1902 throne chairs that were made for the future King George V and Queen Mary for use at the coronation of King Edward VII.

Photographer Hugo Burnand told Hello! magazine that it was “important to take this picture.”

“I did a lot of research in the archives of past coronations, and I didn’t see any previous pictures of the line of succession,” he explained. “While we have seen pictures of the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William and Prince George, never have we seen them in the throne room with all the regalia.”

He added, “There’s a lot of formality in that picture. But I think that I’ve managed to show the essence of the individuals at the same time, which to me makes it not just a historical document, but also a portrait.”

And in case you missed it, a few days ago, The Royal Family dropped this pic of the king and his special prom queen Camilla.

If this picture were evidence of the culmination of my life’s work, I would have expected Camilla to be positively beaming. I suppose having to sleep with Charles for the rest of your life kind of tempers the thrill of being an official queen.
