Mama June Says She’s “Pinching Pennies” After Blowing Through $1 Million On Drugs

When we last left Mama June Shannon last year, she had just married her boyfriend of a year Justin Stroud. Before that, she was in a messy, messy relationship with Gene Doak that involved a DUI crash, drug-induced fights, and June getting busted for drug possession in Alabama. Mama June is sober now, and while promoting her new series Mama June: Family Crisis, she tells The Daily Mail that she really, really regrets blowing through $1 million in drugs. But Mama June is on a budget now, so she’s probably strictly using generic brand ketchup and butter for her world-famous sketti sauce.

Since sobering up, Mama June says she’s been way more careful about her spending habits, telling the DM, “Now I’ve gone back to being like penny-pinching.” AKA, “I’m broke as fuck.” via the DM:

When reflecting on what she would say to herself while she had been at her lowest point with her substance abuse, Mama June stated: ‘Girl, what the hell are you doing spending all that d**n money?’

She continued: I say that a lot to my husband [Justin Stroud]. I would be like, “Man, why in the hell did I blow all that money?” I am always thinking about that.

‘I think about a lot of things I could do with that money. My husband tells me all the time that I can’t dwell on it.’

The reality star explained that she often has moments where she hates herself over things she did during her darkest days.

‘I don’t remember like a lot of that time frame. Just bits and pieces and stuff,’ she stated. ‘But the biggest, stupidest thing I’ve done is spend that much money on drugs.’

The TV star proudly stated she has ensured she is much better with her earning now as she added: ‘Now I’ve gone back to being like penny pinching, and Justin tells me I’m a money hoarder.’

During her addiction, Mama June was spending up to $3,000 a day on drugs.

According to the star, she mostly snorted cocaine until it damaged her vision, at which point she switched to smoking crack cocaine.

Mama June went on to say that she spent most of the $1 million in her final year of using, saying she spent “probably a good $900,000” in dope man fees.

Now she’s clean and going on three years sober- but not without health problems caused by her substance abuse, which popped off when she was first hospitalized for severe headaches and dizziness last year. She says that so far, doctors still haven’t been able to identify a diagnosis, “I just want the answers and I’m not getting them. I’m trying to get into to see the best doctors that I know back in Georgia, but it is taking some time.” The only knowledge her doctors have right now is that whatever it is- it’s probably for suuure related to doing over a million dollars worth of drugs.

With a million notes down the drain, at least Mama June can rest assured knowing her current boo, Justin Stroud, didn’t marry her for the money- cause clearly, she’s got none now.
