“Real Housewives Of Atlanta’s” Kim Zolciak And Kroy Biermann Are Fighting Over Custody Of Their Kids And Financial Issues In Their Divorce Battle

Yesterday was a day to pour out our red solo cups for true love when it was announced that Kim Zolciak-Biermann, formerly of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and then her spin-off, Don’t Be Tardy, filed for divorce from her ex-NFL player husband of 11 years, Kroy Biermann. Their home recently went into then out of foreclosure and it was revealed that they also owe over $1 million in taxes, so it should come as no surprise that a source says their financial struggles are what led to their unraveling. And, they’re still currently living together in the house that they weren’t able to pay for, but, Kroy also filed and is now asking for full custody of their kids and for Kim to GTFO of it.

Ever since Kim, 44, and Kroy, 37 got their own show and a piece of the spotlight, they spent and stunted like they had Opus One funds while evidently only having a Sutter Home budget. Don’t Be Tardy got cancelled, Kroy hadn’t been cashing NFL checks since 2015, Kim was known to gamble away thousands on a whim, and the couple and their six kids were always covered in designer labels from wig to toe. A source told People that all of that irresponsible spending finally caught up with them, and Kim had been secretly planning to end their marriage for “a long time.”

“She had not told anyone, not even family,” the friend reveals. “She didn’t tell anyone, even [her] friends were kept in the dark.”

“The money has been a huge issue,” the friend says. “The million-dollar tax [payment] was just way too much pressure on them.”

TMZ said they’re currently still living under the same foreclosed roof. And I need Andy and a camera–because it looks like this is going to devolve into some War of the Rosespissed-on fish” messiness. Kroy’s hawkish petition makes this all look like maybe this divorce wasn’t just a scheme for them to catch a financial break as some had speculated; he’s hitting Kim where it hurts by requesting sole custody of their four minor kids and for her to move out. He also wants her to meticulously track any and all spending. also via TMZ:

We’ve now obtained Kroy’s petition for divorce, and he wants sole legal and physical custody of the pair’s 4 minor children. That in itself is an aggressive move, essentially cutting his estranged wife out of the child-rearing process.

Kim’s legal docs also reveal things are not kumbaya. She’s asking for sole physical custody with visitation for Kroy. When couples get along, they typically ask for joint legal and physical custody, but neither seems to want that.

There’s also the couple’s home — which went into foreclosure earlier this year. Kroy’s asking for possession of the home … and that Kim be forced to vacate the property. Again, super aggressive.

Kroy puts Kim on notice in his divorce petition, saying she must maintain all financial documents … including all income records, tax records, expense records and more. This suggests a deep conflict over who was responsible for their financial woes.

It’s no shocker that a woman whose origin story was having a sugar daddy named “Big Poppa” was ready to bounce once her and Kroy’s well ran dry. I have a feeling this is going to be a trainwreck, and it seems like no one is more rip-roaringly heated about this whole ordeal than…Bethenny Frankel? If this rant is any indication, we’re all in for an exhausting ride:
