Taylor Swift And The 1975’s Matty Healy Are Reportedly Dating And Ready To Go Public Soon
Welp, it’s a bad day for Nick Cannon, because 33-year-old Taylor Swift’s baby hole is now even further out of reach! We all knew from the moment the news broke that Taylor and her longtime boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, 32, split, it wouldn’t be long before she would tether herself to a new muse (it’s already been a few months without a new album!). And now, The Sun is reporting that Taylor and the lead singer of The 1975, Matty Healy, 34, are seeing each other again after dating briefly about a decade ago.
A source says the two are super into each other and have been keeping in touch during their respective tours, and Taylor’s team–whoops, the “source“–added no, there was no scandalous overlap between Matty and Joe so You Need To Calm Down.
A source close to Taylor said: “She and Matty are madly in love. It’s super-early days, but it feels right. They first dated, very briefly, almost ten years ago but timings just didn’t work out.
“Taylor and Joe actually split up back in February, so there was absolutely no crossover.
“Both Matty and Taylor have been touring over the past few weeks, so it’s been a lot of Face-Timing and texting but she cannot wait to see him again.
The source also said they seem like they’re made for each other because they’re both musical fame-hos, AND Taylor doesn’t plan to keep this relationship close to her chest like the last one, so we should probably buckle in for an impending media spectacle.
“But as two international megastars, they understand the pressures of one another’s jobs better than anyone, and are incredibly supportive of their respective careers.
“They are both massively proud and excited about this relationship and, unlike Taylor’s last one — which was very much kept out of the spotlight, deliberately — she wants to ‘own’ this romance, and not hide it away.
“Taylor just wants to live her life, and be happy. She’s told pals Matty is flying to Nashville over the weekend to support her on the next leg of her tour.”
And because Taylor’s made sure her entire public existence is a carefully curated, intricately orchestrated brain-teaser, there seems to have been Easter eggs teasing her and Matty’s pairing, and he even dropped some too.
In January — before they got together — Taylor made a surprise appearance on stage at London’s O2 on the first night of The 1975’s sell-out At Their Very Best tour.
She performed two tracks, The City and Anti-Hero, during which Matty referred to her as “the Queen”.
Taylor was then pictured backstage with his mum, ex-Corrie actress Denise, 64, which sent fans into social media meltdown.Details of her split from her rumoured fiancé Joe were then conveniently leaked on April 8 — Matty’s 34th birthday — which fans believed was Taylor’s “gift” to her new boyfriend.
Last month the Sex singer appeared to reference Taylor’s own hugely successful tour, Eras, when discussing his decision to quit all social media.
“Everything happens in eras…The 1975 is a very eras band. The era of me being a fucking asshole is coming to an end.”
Aw, they sound like a match made in manipulative heaven; get you someone who’ll use the announcement of the end of their years-long relationship as your birthday gift. Matty seemingly lied about his asshole era coming to an end, though, because he just had to apologize for making “joking” racist comments about rapper Ice Spice in response to her saying she was a big fan of The 1975. Charming. And I guess now that he’s Taylor’s London Boy, he’ll probably have to retire his every-show ritual of making out with randoms on stage. For the sake of all concert videographers, here’s hoping he doesn’t send all of his chaotic energy into more of this aggressive head-grabbing and dick-thrusting in its stead:
