Pete Davidson’s “Saturday Night Live” Hosting Gig Has Been Cancelled Because Of The Writers’ Strike

When Pete Davidson decided he’d had enough of being Saturday Night Lives punchline, he chalked up the Deuces and exited from the show as a regular cast member. Since his departure, he’s been unleashing his sharable sized trouser snake with all the ladies, but he must have been homesick to return to SNL for a bit of fun. Originally, Pete was slated to host this weekend’s episode of SNL with musical guest Lil Uzi Vert. But while Pete was preparing to keep all mention of selfie seductress Kim Kardashian out of his mouth the Writer’s Guild of America members were throwing their pens down and grabbing picket signs for a nationwide strike. And because of this, Pete’s hosting gig has been canceled.

Entertainment Weekly reports the constant cloud of doom and gloom that rests above Pete’s head has struck again. Pete was seemingly excited to come back to SNL where he clearly would have broken character at all the indirect shade he’d receive about his love life from the writers. Everyone knows Pete has absolutely no shame and will offer himself on a silver platter if it keeps the crowd laughing. But unfortunately, there will be no laughter this weekend at SNL since the people who write the laughs are at home waiting for bigger paychecks. And although the strike kicked off this week during an appearance with Jimmy Fallon last week, Pete could see the writing on the wall. And it was mainly one word in big, bold letters; STRIKE.

The Bupkis creator discussed his hosting gig still being up in the air while visiting The Tonight Show last Friday. “Lorne [Michaels] told me [about hosting] a couple months ago but then this week, as you know, a writers’ strike might happen,” he said before the strike began. “So I’ve been working on this for like, two, three months and they’re like, ‘Yeah, well. We’ll know Monday if it’s happening or not.'”

“It just sucks because it feeds my weird story I have in my head like, ‘Of course that would happen to me,'” he joked, adding that it wasn’t actually about the writers but instead “all about me!”

I was looking forward to Pete returning to SNL, but now that there’s a strike, who knows how long we’ll have to wait for his return. But all of this seems just a little too well orchestrated because I know Pete said he wouldn’t talk about Kim, but you know there were going to be a few jabs about her. I think Pimp Mama Kris greased the WGA’s palms with a few million dollars to make sure he wouldn’t get the opportunity to talk shit about her beloved bottom bitch. And I won’t be convinced otherwise because this coincidence has Kris’ name written all over it.
