Gwyneth Paltrow Won’t Be Getting Her Ski Trial Legal Fees Back, After All

The smugness and hilarity of Gwyneth Paltrow and Terry Sanderson’s 8-day ski accident trial held us in a tight grip a few months ago and ended when the jury sided with Gwyneth and found Terry Sanderson at fault for the crash that caused her to miss “half a day of skiing,” and left him alleged health issues. This meant he’d be on the hook to pay Goopy her sanctimonious statement damages of $1, along with her legal fees. And just when we thought that was all over and a new sham of a case came along to captivate us (Jury Duty, of course), Goop and Terry are back in the news since their lawyers met and eventually agreed to drop the part about him paying her lawyers.

People says that even though Gwyneth won’t have to fork over the ridiculous amount Terry asked for since she won, she will have to (not so proudly) consciously uncouple from a pile of her yoni egg fortune now that the judge’s final ruling doesn’t include Terry paying for her legal fees.

The Oscar winner was originally awarded the $1 in damages and reimbursement of her legal fees that she asked for in her countersuit.

Sanderson, 76, originally sought for over $3 million in damages when he sued her in 2019, claiming Paltrow caused him lasting health problems after crashing into him at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah, on Feb. 26, 2016. She testified that he was the one who hit into her, and the jurors ultimately sided with her.

Lawyers for the 50-year-old Goop founder and Terry Sanderson, the retired optometrist who sued the star, agreed in a ruling published on Saturday to table the matter, according to The Associated Press.

It was not made immediately clear why the fees were dropped in District Court Judge Kent Holmberg’s final ruling, per the AP.

Goopy’s reps haven’t commented, and no dollar amounts were divulged, but this whole ordeal had been brewing for years, and that crash illustration was priceless, so it’s probably a hefty sum. via CBS News:

Representatives for Paltrow were not immediately available to answer questions about the final judgment or the money at stake. Neither side has publicly disclosed how much it cost to sustain a yearslong legal battle with a team of attorneys, expert witnesses from around the United States and, for Paltrow’s side, high-resolution animated recreations of her recollections of the crash.

Though at the conclusion of the trial, Gwyneth’s whisper of “I wish you well” into Terry’s ear seemed like a threatening, evil omen; it looks like her dark detox powers have proved ineffective on him. And I bet she’s currently really regretting vindictively requesting her attorneys charge her their hourly rate for their celebratory bone broth and ozone-asshole brunch when she was still under the impression Terry would be getting the bill!
