Open Post: Hosted By Rihanna Announcing That She’s Making New Music… As Smurfette In The New “Smurfs” Movie

Yes, Rihanna made her return to music with her Super Bowl Halftime Show performance and her song for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but her fans are still waiting for songs from her that they can drop their ass, too. Well, after Rihanna delivers her second child with A$AP Rocky, she will deliver new songs… FOR KIDS! Yes, Rihanna has the nerve, gall, and audacity to piss off her Navy by giving them new music they probably don’t want. It was announced at CinemaCon in Las Vegas yesterday that Rihanna will voice Smurfette in the new Smurfs Movie. The Blue Man Group is probably loving this decision because it definitely means that Fenty will put out a line of blue foundations.
Variety says that Rihanna made a surprise appearance at CinemaCon, where it was revealed that she will not only voice Smurfette in the film but will also record new songs for its soundtrack. We’ve waited how long for her album, and she gives us a ballad for Wakanda Forever, and now THIS?! The movie comes out February 14, 2025, so for Valentine’s Day, you can listen to children scream-singing Rihanna x The Smurfs music if you want.
The superstar made a surprise in-person appearance at CinemaCon, Las Vegas’ annual convention of movie theater owners, to make the announcement on Thursday.
“I tried to get the Papa Smurf role but it didn’t work out,” the singer joked on stage at Caesar’s Palace Hotel and Casino, alongside Paramount Animation head Ramsey Naito. It was revealed that Rihanna will star, write and record original songs, and produce the upcoming project. Clad in a stonewash denim cape, she also confirmed she is in her third trimester of pregnancy with her second child.
The film, according to Naito, will explore themes of identity and ask the central question, “What is a Smurf?”

This will not be the first Smurfs feature film. The first one come out in 2011, and Katy Perry voiced Smurfette. She was also Smurfette in the sequel. So Miss RiRi stole her old friend’s gig! Here’s Katy’s iteration which tells me I would find this film unbearable, and critics agreed; the movies got 21% and 14%, respectively.
Younger Rihanna released a song called Please Don’t Stop The Music, and then she grew up, and she sure did stop the music. That is unless you love songs about being a Smurf. But you can’t pussy pop to a song called Shut Up And Smurf or Pon de Smurf-Play!
