Bam Margera Finally Surrendered To The Cops After Going On The Run

Hoo boy. Bam Margera has had a rough few weeks. And a rough year. Hell, it’s been a rough couple of decades for 43-year-old Bam, who’s been struggling with alcohol abuse since his early twenties. So, almost a month ago, Bam was arrested for public intoxication at a restaurant in Burbank after screaming at his estranged wife in front of their 5-year-old son. Woof. Then, on Sunday, things got even worse. That morning, Bam allegedly assaulted his brother, Jess Margera, at their family home in the Philly suburbs. He also allegedly threatened to kill his entire family. Jess called the cops, and Bam fled on foot into the woods. A warrant was issued for Bam’s arrest, but no one could find him. Until today, when TMZ reports that, after four days on the run, Bam surrendered to police to face four counts of terroristic threats, one assault charge, and a final count of harassment. Bam paid his $50,000 bail, is due back in court in May, and took to Instagram to claim his innocence, writing that he plans to evict his brother from “Castle Bam” and sue him for defamation. Did anyone else just hear a long, exhausted sigh coming from Pennsylvania? Probably Bam’s lawyers.

According to TMZ, Bam began banging on his brother’s locked bedroom door around 8:00 AM on Sunday and then left a pretty creepy note behind. It said, “If you even think about calling the police on me I will officially fuck you up.” Jess alleges he went downstairs to find Bam peeing in the kitchen sink (lovely). He says Bam began to attack him, striking him multiple times in the head. Cops noted Jess had “visible injuries.” But wait, there’s more:

After the brawl, Jesse goes on to allege that Bam said, “I’ll kill you. I’ll put a bullet in your head.” Jesse also told police that Bam allegedly said he’d also kill everyone in the house … the occupants of which, at the time, included his dad Phil and two other women. Jesse told police that Bam fled into the woods behind their house after this … and cops say they came up short when they went looking for him.

So, Bam disappeared for a while, and cops issued a warrant for his arrest. This week, Jess took to Twitter to allege that an “unrecognizable” Bam had developed a meth habit and was on the run with his girlfriend and her 8-year-old daughter. Right before his surrender, TMZ reported that Bam was making drunk phone calls to his family, telling them how much he hated them for sending him to rehab last year, and accusing them of selling his home and stealing his money.

Today, after surrendering, Bam went to court for his first appearance. Afterward, he posted the header pic to Instagram with the following caption:

I just got out of the courthouse with my lawyers. Everything went great and the false accusations of what my brother says are not true and he will be sued for defamation as well as being evicted from castle bam sooner than later. The reason this happened is because I read his phone saying he wants me back in California and he wants to find a way to 302 me. Fuck him

In Pennsylvania, a 302 is an emergency involuntary commitment of someone who is a danger to themself or others due to a mental illness. It can last up to 120 hours but can potentially be extended.

Apparently, Bam’s friends tried to organize an intervention after his public intoxication arrest at the end of March. TMZ says, “Bam seemed receptive at first,” but his new girlfriend wasn’t into it. She was allegedly worried that she wouldn’t have a place to live if Bam went to rehab. Then, she got really upset when Bam’s estranged wife, Nicole Boyd, was called during the intervention. Nikki allegedly told Bam that she was willing to let him back into her and their son’s life if he got clean. TMZ’s sources say this was the last straw for the current girlfriend, who ended the intervention and kicked out Bam’s friends. Those friends didn’t include Steve-O, who is officially done trying to save him. Sad, sad, sad…
