Margot Robbie And Ryan Gosling Presented New Footage From The “Barbie” Movie At CinemaCon

At CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week, Sydney Sweeney wasn’t the only blondie in pink everyone had eyes on (and mostly to look to see if she’s got horny cheating hearts in her eyes for co-star Glen Powell), Margot Robbie was there in Pretty in Pink Prada (which included a unibrow for her boobs) to present Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie to theater owners. While looking like Body Wave Perm Ken, Ryan Gosling helped Margot and Greta Gerwig show new footage from their movie. In the new footage, our Barbie Girl’s Barbie World (shout out to Aqua, whose song unsurprisingly isn’t in the Barbie movie at all) is turned upside down when things (SPOILER ALERT) start to go wrong for her in BarbieLand, and she has to contemplate life in the real world and death. Barbie gets deep.

Variety says that in the new footage, Barbie’s perfect world becomes not-so-perfect, so she goes into the “real world” with her Ken:

In the never-before-seen footage, which played enthusiastically to the room of theater owners, Barbie is living the good life. That is, until more than a few unusual phenomenons — like cold showers, burnt waffles, funky haircuts and weird-smelling basements — start to rattle the inhabitants of BarbieLand. Barbie and friends are particularly scandalized as the doll’s perfectly arched heels transform into flat feet. The horror!

So she goes on a journey to visit “weird Barbie,” played by Kate McKinnon, who offers her a choice between high heels or Birkenstocks.

“You can know the truth about whatever you have to do — or you can go back to your regular life and forget any of this ever happened to you,” she says.

Barbie ignores the truth (in the form of the Birkenstocks) and grabs the high heel.

Then, set to the tune of “Closer to Fine” by Indigo Girls, Barbie ventures off to the real world. She’s surprised by Ken, who pops up in the trunk of her convertable with his roller skates. “I literally never go anywhere without them,” he says.

Here’s the trailer if you missed it the first time around:

And here’s more of Margot and Ryan at CinemaCon:

Even if you were never the type to play with Barbie or desecrate her hair and face (you know which one you are), the movie is supposedly for everyone, according to America Ferrera. During their CinemaCon appearance, Greta, Margot, Ryan, and America did a quick interview on stage where America admitted that Barbie wasn’t really her thing growing up, but after reading the script, she knew she had to sign on. She said, “There were moments when I didn’t know whether I was laughing or crying. By the time it ended, I was a Barbie girl which is a testament to Miss Gerwig who should be paid all the money for that.”  And Ryan said that he didn’t know he had the right “Kenergy” to play Ken but Greta and Margot brought it out of him. via HuffPo

“I only knew Ken from afar. I didn’t know Ken from within, and if I’m being really honest, I doubted my Ken-ergy,” Gosling told the audience at a Warner Bros. Pictures presentation.

“I didn’t see it, but Margot and Greta, they conjured this out of me somehow,” Gosling said. “It was like I was living my life and then one day I was bleaching my hair, shaving my legs and wearing bespoke neon outfits and rollerblading down Venice Beach.”

“It came on like a light scarlet fever,” the star joked. “Then I woke up one day and was like, ‘Why is there fake tanner in my sheets? What just happened?’”

So I guess “Kenergy” is the Ken Doll version of Big Dick Energy. Big Flat Crotch Energy!
