The Swifties Drove Actress Emma Laird To Restrict Her Comments After She Dared Post A Photo Of Joe Alwyn

Emma Laird, you may not be immediately familiar with the name. She’s a 24-year-old Scottish actress, and she has currently become Public Enemy #2 of the Swifties (Scooter Braun is permanently #1). Why, you ask? Because in a photo dump on Instagram of her new film–which happens to also star 33-year-old Taylor Swift‘s 32-year-old ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn–Miss Emma thought she was allowed to post a picture of Joe! Wow! That psycho bitch! How dare she?! Post a photo of a man she’s in a movie with, alongside several photos featuring other people as well!? Sickening. And the Swifties let Emma know it so hard she had to disable the comments.

Taylor and Joe broke up after six years together, and sources claimed that one of their issues was that he had trouble with her level of fame. Well, Joe and Emma are currently filming The Brutalist, directed by Brady Corbet and also starring Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, and Guy Pearce. Emma and Joe are on-location in Budapest, Hungary, and she captioned a photo dump “Moments in March,” including a bunch of on-set photos:

Yeah, Joe is not even in the first photo, but the Swifties still lost it. via Billboard:

The fandom started flooding the set of nine photos with comments and accusations, leading Laird to turn her comments off on the post. Not to be deterred, the Swifties then moved to earlier posts in the Mayor of Kingstown star’s feed, writing things such as, “We know you’ve been liking posts about taylor and joe’s breakup” and “There’s no way she didn’t know what she was doing.” “Alexa play better than revenge,” one particular user snarked in reference to Swift’s diss track off 2010’s Speak Now.

BUT WAIT! Swifties on the opposite end of the Internet-wrath spectrum have flocked to Emma’s defense:

“As a swiftie… I do NOT claim the mean swifties in these comments,” one wrote with a clown and red-flag emoji. A second commented, “Y’all need to turn this energy into crafts and make some friendship bracelets. The Swiftie fandom is not built on hate and bullying. Leave this poor girl alone.”

If Joe couldn’t handle Taylor’s level of fame when he was in the Swifties’ good graces, he’s really going to it moving forward. Don’t make the mistake of being a woman photographed waiting behind Joe in line at Starbucks in Budapest! The Swifties will have you deactivating your social media in days.
