Madonna Sent Love To Sam Smith After They Got Hate For Their Tour Looks

Sam Smith’s tour, Gloria, kicked off last Wednesday, and, surprise, surprise, they’ve triggered the trolls, homophobes, and Christian conservatives all in one go. Actually pretty impressive. PinkNews reports that, in the show’s finale section, entitled ACT III: Sex, Sam performs the hit “Unholy” wearing a bejeweled corset, thigh-high boots, and devil horns. Sam also covers Madonna’s “Human Nature” while wearing glittery briefs, fishnet stockings, and nipple tassels. Pearl clutchers are losing their shit, chanting: “Satanist! Sinner! Save the children!” But Madge has made it clear she approves of Sam’s performance.

Madonna reposted a video of Sam’s “Human Nature” cover to her Instagram Stories with the caption, “LOVE YOU SAM <3!”:

Sam and Madonna are buddy-buddy, and she introduced their performance of “Unholy” at the Grammys in February. That was the night 64-year-old Madge got all that shit about her, er, evolving face. It was also the night Sam got shit for their “Satanic” performance with Kim Petras. 30-year-old Sam has also been accused of being “too sexual” and a couple of weeks after the Grammys, they were harassed outside Central Park by far-right conspiracy theorists who called them “demonic” and a “pedophile.” But the singer has kept on keeping on. Here are Sam’s”controversial” looks from the tour:

Here’s some of the criticism. via PinkNews:

“Sam Smith performed a satanic show filled with sexual references, fetish gear, a strip tease and a grotesque imitation of sex acts on stage while children were in the audience… This is immoral,” wrote one person.

So-called influencer Andrew Tate, who is currently being sued due to multiple allegations of sexual assault, said Smith was “worshipping the devil”. Another referred to Sam Smith performing a song as proof of a “dying society”.

Snort. Thanks for your opinion, accused human trafficker Andrew Tate. After the backlash over the tour, people on Twitter came to Sam’s defense, pointing out that their performance is really nothing new in the pop music world:

On the tour’s opening night, Sam told the audience that their show was about “love” and “freedom,” adding, “This is a safe space and you can do whatever you want. I want you to have fun, and nothing can go wrong. I love you all.” Well, I’m impressed Sam can shake off all that hate and keep putting themselves out there. If someone as much as points out a spelling error on one of my social media posts, I have a complete mental breakdown and renounce public life forever. FOREVER!
