Matthew McConaughey Thinks He And Woody Harrelson Might Be Biological Brothers

Over the past few years, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson have been morphing into each other, and I’m not sure where it started. But according to Matthew, there may be a reason for that after revealing his mother knew Woody’s father at one time. And I don’t mean “knew‘ like they used to catch the same bus to work. I mean “knew” KNEW each other.

Variety reports Matthew sat down with Kelly Ripa on her Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast, where he revealed the tantalizing tale his mother, Mary Kathlene McCabe, revealed not too long ago. It’s all ahead of Woody and Matthew’s upcoming AppleTV+ show called Brother From Another Mother, where they’ll both portray fictionalized versions of themselves and move into a house with their families. I don’t think that’s anything I would want to see because all I’m picturing is Woody talking about how anyone can catch these hands as Matthew agrees every now and then with an “Alright alright ALRIIIIGHT!” However, the premise of the show does bring up the fact they look like fictionalized versions of each other. And Matthew reveals that might be because they share the same DNA.

“In Greece a few years ago, we’re sitting around talking about how close we are and our families,” McConaughey continued. “And my mom is there, and she says, ‘Woody, I knew your dad.’ Everyone was aware of the ellipses that my mom left after ‘knew.’ It was a loaded K-N-E-W.”

The revelation led McConaughey to investigate his family history. He said, “We went on to unpack what this ‘knew’ meant and did some math and found out that [Harrelson’s] dad was on furlough at the same time that my mom and dad were in their second divorce. Then there’s possible receipts and places out in West Texas where there might have been a gathering, or a meeting, or a ‘knew’ moment.”

Honestly, this would explain a lot if it’s true, so you’re probably thinking, “Uh, DUH. Get a DNA test.” Unfortunately, as easy of a solution as that would be, Matthew doesn’t want to do that.

“Look, it’s a little easier for Woody to say, ‘Come on, let’s do [DNA tests],’ because what’s the skin in it for him?” McConaughey said. “It’s a little harder for me because he’s asking me to take a chance to go, ‘Wait a minute, you’re trying to tell me my dad may not be my dad after 53 years of believing that?’ I got a little more skin in the game.”

This is all a bit too confusing for me because if they’re related, would that mean Woody is Mary Kathleen’s love child? Or is Woody’s dad actually Matthew’s dad, and the trip to Greece was their Mamma Mia moment? In any case, I think it’s time for a DNA test to get all the answers because if they both are brothers, that would explain a lot.
