Sources Say Taylor Swift And Joe Alwyn Split Over Personality Differences And His Struggle With Her Fame

Over the weekend, many a Swiftie’s Easter was ruined when they learned Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn had split up after six years of dating. Planted sources and/or Taylor’s snakiest friends claimed that the break-up was “amicable” and “not dramatic.” Now, People reports that more insiders have come out of the woodwork to share their opinions on why the couple called it quits. And, no, the reason isn’t a torrid love affair with serial sperminator Nick Cannon. It’s boring old incompatibility.

People’s insider says that the break-up was mainly due to “differences in their personalities”:

“They’ve had rough patches before and always worked things out, so friends thought they would take some time apart but eventually come back together,” says the source, noting that “ultimately” Swift, 33, and Alwyn, 32, “weren’t the right fit for one another.”

They weren’t a good fit?? But they’re both so blonde and tall. They practically look like siblings! The source continues:
“They had plenty in common and fell in love in a safe bubble while she was retreating from the world during Reputation,” adds the source, referring to Swift’s 2017 studio album. “Then the pandemic hit, and they were locked down together and able to continue growing their relationship in this insulated way. But he didn’t really ‘know’ her yet outside of that bubble.”
So Taylor and Joe were isolated before the pandemic. I can relate. In February 2020, I ignored a UTI for so long that I got really sick for three weeks. Oopsies! I finally recovered by mid-March, and then… well, you know what happened then. But it wasn’t just their love bubble bursting (credit: Teresa Giudice). Insiders claim Joe struggled with how famous Taylor was:

“Joe has struggled with Taylor’s level of fame and the attention from the public,” says the source. “The differences in their personalities have also become harder to ignore after years together. They’ve grown apart.”

But, according to “multiple sources,” Taylor and Joe were still discussing marriage as recently as a few months ago. Huh. Seems like these two were as in denial about their issues as I was about my urinary tract infection. But, like the UTI, the symptoms eventually became too much to ignore:
“Taylor didn’t see them working out in the long run,” says the insider, who adds that the split happened “recently” and was “not dramatic.”

“They are friendly. She doesn’t have anything bad to say about Joe,” adds the insider. “They just grew apart. Taylor is staying very focused on her tour right now.”

Despite the breakup, the source adds, “There is a lot of respect still between them.”

So Taylor won’t be eviscerating Joe in her next album? Sure, Jan.
In related news, TMZ reports that last night, paps and fans caught Taylor out and about in NYC with frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff and his non-Lena Dunham fiancée, Margaret Qualley. The trio (throuple?) went out for dinner at Via Carota in the West Village. Here are the pics:

So that’s Taylor’s first public appearance post-breakup. When will Joe make his? Or has he already done it, and no one noticed because his face is so utterly forgettable? Seriously, this guy’s looks are so blandly handsome, I wouldn’t be able to pick him out of a police line-up. Half the time, I think he’s Ronan Farrow. Dude is in dire need of a trademark style choice. How ’bout a bandana like the E Street Band’s Steve Van Zandt? Or a face tattoo? Or a sandwich board that says, “Yeah, I’m the blond British actor who dated Taylor Swift from 2016-2023!”
